Isaiah 40:5 ESV

5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

On Saturday the 17th of April Emmie had a 10 hour long surgery… that’s a whole 10 hours of waiting. And... in that time of waiting I had plenty of opportunity to reflect on why God can be trusted. Beyond meditating on the popular “do not fear verses”, like isaiah 41 - I really needed to know that what I believe is based on a strong foundation.

In the last couple of months we have all found ourselves in a period of waiting… Waiting for numbers to come down and things to reopen. As we wait and trust God perhaps you have also thought about your faith. I want to encourage you to read the chapter before the “do not fear verses” - Isaiah 40 paints a vivid picture of God’s greatness, God’s glory and God’s comfort for His people.

So, who does Isaiah 40 verse 5 speak to about God?

Well, if you have spent any time… that is any time at all over the past week wondering about the vaccine debate then first and foremost I want to remind you that before anything else “Jesus is king and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed”.

Or perhaps you have been unsure about your job, your children, your relationships, or even that promise God made to you so long ago, your mental health or maybe your physical health… in all those cases you must be confident that “Jesus is king and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed”.

So now that we know that “Jesus is king and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed”, you must go through this week with a confident response to whatever comes your way.

Over the next few days, in every situation, continiously decalare that “Jesus is king and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed”.

As you can all see Emmie came out of the 10 surgery and she is much stronger today so I can confidently declare that “Jesus is king and the glory of the LORD shall be revealed”.

I want to finish by getting us to imagine what would happen to our families, our neighbours, our work colleagues and our communities if we all truly embraced this truth. Surely people would see Christ in us - surely God’s glory would be reveled to the world one person at a time.
