Read: Matthew 6: 24-33
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith? Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Walter Stillman Martin and his wife Civilla were a ministry team. She was a school teacher with musical skill and often wrote gospel songs for revival meetings.
At one such event he was invited to preach at a church some distance from where they were staying at the time. That Sunday morning, however, Civillia became suddenly ill and unable to go along with Walter. He seriously considered canceling his speaking engagement since he would be gone for quite some time.
Their young son spoke up about that time and said, “Father, don’t you think that if God wants you to preach today, He will take care of Mother while you are away?”
It was those words that inspired Civilla and that afternoon she penned the words of that beautiful old hymn:
“God Will Take Care of You”
1 Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you;
Beneath his wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.
Refrain:
God will take care of you,
through ev'ry day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
2 Through days of toil when heart doth fail,
God will take care of you;
When dangers fierce your path assail,
God will take care of you. [Refrain]
3 All you may need, He will provide
God will take care of you;
Nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you. [Refrain]
4 No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one, upon his breast,
God will take care of you. [Refrain]
We have assurance from God’s word that when we place on him all of our trust HE WILL TAKE CARE OF US.
First of all, God asks for complete and single-hearted trust in God - You can’t serve both God and Mammon (this world’s system) or any two masters
Our trust for God works out in the realization that “God WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU NO MATTER WHAT”
This isn’t always speaking of physical taking care of - You may be rock bottom but God knows how to take care of you there too.
In reality its a lesson on value
We place focus on the wrong things -
Worry is expressing doubt about God’s Fatherly care and provision. We can take comfort in the fact that God will take care of us.
We worry about food and clothing Jesus says they are less important than the life and the body that they supply. He’s inviting us into a fully trusting relationship where we know that God sustains our lives and gives us our bodies so we trust Him to provide the clothes and food He knows we need.
Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
But we forget our value and try to adjust, manipulate, compensate, and any other kind of thing but trust -
Jesus uses the phrase “taking thought” and “take no thought”
The Greek word translated take no thought literally means “to be drawn in different directions.” Worry pulls us apart. Until man interferes, everything in nature works together, because all of nature trusts God. Man, however, is pulled apart because he tries to live his own life by depending on material wealth.1

There is an interesting story in the Gospel of Luke that illustrates this (Luke 10:38-41)
Mary and Martha host Jesus and his disciples. Mary came and sat at Jesus’ feet while Martha was “cumbered about much serving” She had lost the value of being with Jesus and recognizing that God will take care of You - she was distracted by all she thought she had to do.
Charles F. Weigle was an itinerant evangelist and songwriter. One day he returned home after preaching an evangelistic meeting and found a note from his wife. It simply read, “I’m leaving Charlie. I don’t want to live the life you are living. I want to go the other way – to the bright lights.” And to add insult to injury, she had taken their only daughter with her. That night Charlie Weigle wandered the streets alone, finally winding up at the end of the pier at Biscayne Bay, where he contemplated suicide. However, despite all that had happened to him, he vowed to live his life for Jesus.
Sometime later he would write:
Verse 1: “I would love to tell you what I think of Jesus,
Since I found in Him a friend so strong and true;
I would tell you how He changed my life completely,
He did something that no other friend could do.”
(Refrain) “No one ever cared for me like Jesus,
There’s no other friend so kind as He;
No one else could take the sin and darkness from me,
O how much He cared for me.”
Verse 2: “All my life was full of sin when Jesus found me,
All my heart was full of misery and woe;
Jesus placed His strong and loving arms about me,
And He led me in the way I ought to go.”
Verse 3: “Ev’ry day He comes to me with new assurance,
More and more I understand His words of love;
But I’ll never know just why He came to save me,
Till some day I see His blessed face above.”
God took care of Weigle and others God promises He will Take Care of YOU!!!
