You need the Holy Spirit

Acts 2:1–21 NKJV

1 When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. 5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. 6 And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language. 7 Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans? 8 And how is it that we hear, each in our own language in which we were born? 9 Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, 10 Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs—we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.” 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?” 13 Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.” 14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. 21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.’

The poeple who witnessed the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, did not understand what was taking place. it was something that has not happen in the History of the world. It was strange, it was uknown.

Peter revealed to them that this was the plan of God from of old to fill all flesh with his Spirit.

Not all flesh will be filled with the Spirit of God, because ultimately you have a free will to either accept Spirit of Christ into your heart or reject him. However there hould be no doubt that it is the Lords desire to pour out his spirit on all flesh. He wants to dwell within each and every person.

The goal of Calvary

The goal of Calvary was primarily for the Lord Jesus Christ to dwell in the hearts of every man

Luke 12:49–50 NKJV

49 “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how distressed I am till it is accomplished!

Christ was wishing the day would finaly come that he will send his fire upon the earth.

This was fullfilled in Acts 2 and is being fullfilled until this day.

There is a great desire within the Lord that is reflected within us as ministers of Christ to see this hily Ghost fire in the hearts of every person in this place.

God is so desperate to get you filled with the HolyGhost , he nows how much you need it. The problem is some of us dont know how much we need the Holy Ghost.

Do you know how much you need the Holyghost.

Your need for the Holy Ghost

Isaiah 41:17–18 NKJV

17 “The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the Lord, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them. 18 I will open rivers in desolate heights, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land springs of water.

The poor in spirit and in need of the Spirit. When God finds these people, it does not matter where they are, for their sake he is going to turn the desolate heights to open rivers, the wilderness to a pool of wateer and the dry land to springs of water.

God is ready to fill you with his spirit but where is the needy person, where is the thirsty person.

NOTE: if you have not been filled with the Holy Ghost, it has nothing to do with God, it has everything to do with you.

2 Corinthians 6:2 (NKJV)

2 For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

The enemy tactic to hinder people from the Holy Ghost

The enemy know how much you need the holy Ghost more than you do

He knows that as long us you don’t have the Holy Spirit you are not God’s

Romans 8:9 NKJV

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

Ephesians 1:13–14 NKJV

13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.

he knows that you have the assurance that you will inherit the Kindgom of God. God has not assured you that you will inherit his Kingdom by giving you his garauntee which is the Holy Ghost.

He will try to put all kinds of stumbling blocks to keep you from the Holy Ghost.

Today, God is here to destroy the works of the devil.

Revelation 3:15–20 NKJV

15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Lukewarmness was not the reason why they were blind, wretched, miserable, poor and naked.

It was because they had left the Holy Ghost outside still knowcking at their door.

The enemy will distract you with earthly desires and needs so that you dont seek after the one that you truly need, the Holy Ghost.

Christ was knocking and saying “let me in and i will be a light to your eyes, i will be a covering to your nakedness, i will be a joy to your heart, i will fill your soul with riches.

Dont be distracted with other things, get to your priority straight you need the holy Ghost first.

The parable of the wise and foolish virgins

Matthew 25:1–12 (NKJV)

1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.

2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish.

3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them,

4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.

5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept.

6 “And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’

7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps.

8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’

9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’

10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut.

11 “Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us!’

12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’

They were called virgins because they were separated by the truth, they were baptised in Jesus name and therefore they had the lamp.

However they did not have the Holy Ghost, Christ was not living in them.

False satisfaction

Some people they don’t thirst after the spirit of God, because they are satisfied with their moral goodness or their own righteousness. This will lead to pride in one’s owns rigtheousness

They don’t see they need for God, so they don’t come to repentance or brokenness because they don’t see themsleves as sinners needing of repentance.

Luke 18:9–14 NKJV

9 Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Remember repentance leads to the outpouring of the Holy Ghost.

Acts 11:18 (NKJV)

18 When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

Whenever they come to the Lord they see their own goodness, they dont see their sins, or how sinful they are in the eyes of the Lord.

The desciples

Matthew 26:31–35 (NKJV)

31 Then Jesus said to them, “All of you will be made to stumble because of Me this night, for it is written: ‘I will strike the Shepherd, And the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

32 But after I have been raised, I will go before you to Galilee.”

33 Peter answered and said to Him, “Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”

34 Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.”

35 Peter said to Him, “Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!” And so said all the disciples.

Peter and the desciples could not see themselves as the betrayer of Jesus Christ. They did not see how frail they were

Jesus told him the truth and to help him realise how frail he was. He told him that he would deny him.

Luke 22:62 NKJV

62 So Peter went out and wept bitterly.

Peter pride in his own rightousness and moral standing was broken, and he wept bitterly, he was not ashamed to be broken before God

What was the upper room in Acts like

Peter and the desciples were weeping and crying out for the outpouring of his spirit in their life which they were not worthy tp receive. They understood that it was truly a gift from God.

Psalm 51:17 NKJV

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart— These, O God, You will not despise.

Dont let your pride and ego keep you from being broken before God and weeping before him.

Unbelief can hinder you from receiving the Holy Ghost.

Luke 11:9–13 NKJV

9 “So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 11 If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

It is God’s will to fill you with the Holy Spirit now, since now is the day of salvation.

At least the man will give his son something but many of us are okay leaving the presence of God without the Holy Ghost when we came asking for it.

In other words, we are saying that God is worse then father that gives his son a serpent instead of a fish, or scorpion instead of an egg.
