Three very religious rabbis in black garb and with long beards are about to play golf. An Irish Catholic, named Mulhaney, also at the course to play, joins the threesome for 18 holes. At the end of the game, his score is 104. The rabbis shoot 69, 70, and 71, respectively. He asks them, "How is it that you all play such good golf?" The lead rabbi answers, "When you live a holy life and attend a synagogue regularly, you are rewarded." Mulhaney loves golf and figures, "What do I have to lose?" So, he converts, finds a synagogue close to his home, which he attends regularly, and lives a holy life.
A year later, he again plays golf with the three rabbis. His score is 104. The rabbis shoot 69, 70, and 71, respectively. He says to them, "Okay, I converted, joined a synagogue, and live a holy life, but I'm still playing lousy golf." The lead rabbi asks him, "Which synagogue did you join?" Mulhaney replies, "Beth Shalom." "There's the problem," the rabbi replies...... "That one's for tennis.

It was an exclamation that would always begin with the word “holy.” The second part of the exclamation would always involve something related to what Robin was shouting about in the episode. Holy is much more than an expletive in conversation.
Holy is defined in the Oxford Dictionary as, “dedicated or consecrated to God.
Today we will seek to get a better understanding of holiness as we study our text Leviticus 20:26.
Leviticus the 3rd book in our English Bible is a book of laws that show God’s people how to live. It is the place where many people’s new year’s resolution to read through the Bible in a year go to die. From the Greek, the title Leviticus means “of or relating to the Levites” the tribe from which the priest came.
The four phrases of our text will help us to better understand, and then become Holy.

Holy - Hebrew = qadosh (Kaw-doshe) sacred, set-apart sanctified.
This is a invitation, a call, a command from God.
45 For I am the Lord that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy.
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Notice some things about this. LORD Jesus. if we remove the identifier we see it says “I am” literally what God said to Moses, I am that I am.
Jesus is our example.
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
We are made in his image, in his likeness, we should live like it.
Holiness comes from God.
21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

26 Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
There should be a difference.
In the way we speak, the way we dress, the way we act. The Tchurch isn’t a nightclub, it is a church. It should be different.
Talking to one of our ladies this week. She was saying that Children need to learn not to run in church.

Christianity is not a religion, it is a relationship.
19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Holy is more than just an exclamation. For the Christian it is a way of life.
God has invited us to be holy, because He is holy, He is our example. He has separated us from a world that is in rebellion to him and entered into a relationship with us.
If you were married and your spouse slept with others, how would you feel? Betrayed, violated, abandoned? When we live like the world, act like the world, talk like the world, look like the world, we are violating, betraying and abandoning the sacred trust God has with us. It is spiritual adultery.
Today will you choose holiness?
It begins by being born again. And it continues daily by living for him.
