In this passage we find the CERTAINTIES when Christ is the cure.

I. The Setting. Vs.1-2

The place. V.1

1 And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.

“noised” - Spread by report; much talked of.

“in the house” - probably Peter’s (Amplified)

NKJV “heard” instead of “noised”

The preaching. V.2

2 And straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached the word unto them.

“he preached the word unto them” - With a crowd gathered it is of much note that we do what He did.

II. The Sick. Vs.3-5

His friends fervency. V.3

3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

“sick of the palsy” - the first of 5 occurrences in Mark 2 and of 11 altogether

“borne of four” - from the previous message (Mark 1:29-45) it takes four: one passionate, one praying, one preaching, and one powerful to save the sinner.

“certain of the scribes” - could this have been the scribes that the people of Mark 1:21-28 compared Jesus to?

IV. The Saviour. Vs.8-11

8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?

“when Jesus perceived in his spirit” - (perceived) Known by the senses; felt; understood; observed.

9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?

“Whether is it easier” - it is easier to say it, but impossible for any human to do it.

“they were all amazed” - (“amazed”) Astonished; confounded with fear, surprise or wonder.

“glorified God” - We really should glorify God more
