Chapters 6-10

1. Chapter 6 – Choosing Deacons

• What situation arose for the disciples to ask for help? (6:1-6).

• What happened after these men were chosen (6:7).

• Who was Stephen, and what controversy did he create? (6:8-15).

2. Chapter 7 - The First Martyr

• As Stephen lays out his defense for Jesus as Messiah, what does he begin with? (7:1-9).

• Continuing his defense Stephen uses Moses as an example. What did he say about Moses? (7:10-43).

• Stephen accuses the religious leaders of misunderstand and misrepresenting the Scriptures, what else did he accuse them of? (7:44-53)

• Stephen made three significant comments as he was being martyred, what were they? (7:54-60)

3. Chapter 8 – The Church is Persecuted

• Who was Saul and what did he do to believers? (8:1-3).

• Who was Philip and what work of God was he doing in Samaria? The people of Samaria, were they Jews or Gentiles? Who was Simon and why did the apostles rebuke him? (8:4-24).

• What happens to Philip after he leaves Samaria? (8:25-40).

4. Chapter 9 – The Conversion of Saul

• What happens to Saul as he is on his way to Damascus to persecute Christians? (9:1-19).

• Why were the Jews at Damascus astonished at Paul? What did they try to do to Paul because of his conversion to Christianity? (9:20-25).

• What happen to Paul when he tried to meet with the disciples at Jerusalem? Who was it that convinced them that Paul was genuinely converted? (9:26-31).

• As Peter is preaching on his way back to Jerusalem, he performs a miracle at Joppa. What is that miracle and what effect did it have in that region? (9:32-43).

5. Chapter 10 – The Gospel is officially presented to the Gentiles

• Who was Cornelius, and how did he know to send for Peter? What convinced Peter to go to Cornelius’ house (10:1-33).

• What happens when Peter presents the Gospel to Cornelius and his household? (10:34-48).
