December 18, 2016 Short Review Song of Songs 2:10-13 Briefly summarize the morning message. Look for the following main points: a. The Delight of love b. The Dangers of love c. God’s Provision of love Some Questions for Discussion: 1. Do you remember times – in childhood, as a teen or later – when you felt that nobody loved you? What made you feel that way? How did it affect your life? 2. Read the text. Comment on the various images which depict new life, joy and promise. 3. How does feeling unloved add to the burden of life, and how does being loved by someone make it easier to face the challenges of life? 4. What are some of the reasons why men and women grow desperate for love? 5. How can our hunger for love make us vulnerable? a. Read Proverbs 7:6-23. b. What are the actions/promises/invitations which speak to the man’s desire to be cared for and loved? c. Does this apply to men only? How would it apply to women – would there be some changes in the setting and the words? 6. What does it mean to say ‘God is love?’ (I John 4:8) 7. What is the difference between knowing “God is love” and knowing “God loves me?” 8. Read Paul’s prayer in Ephesians 3:17-19. a. What does he say about God’s love in Christ? b. What does he mean by praying that we would “know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge?” What does it mean to know in a way that surpasses knowledge? 9. What reinforces your experience of the love of God?
