Sermon Notes May 7, 2017 Mark 14:60-63 Short Review Briefly summarize the morning message. Look for the following points: 1. What do the titles “Son of God” and “the Christ” mean? 2. What did Jesus claim about Himself – the “Son of Man?” 3. How does this truth affect us? Some Questions for Discussion: Focus the discussion on: Jesus claim about the nature of the “Son of Man.” 1. Have you ever had Jehovah’s Witnesses or Mormons (or others) knock on your door? a. What kind of people were they? What did they say? What did they ask of you? b. What was your response? c. Did you feel confident about your own faith in Christ when speaking to them? Why or why not? 2. At the other end of the scale are those who use the name of Christ as a swear word. How do you react – inwardly or outwardly? [Does it affect the reverence with which we treat Him and His name?] 3. Summarize what Jesus claimed about Himself in His response to the High Priest. Why was the priest so upset? 4. Why is the deity of Jesus important in understanding salvation? 5. How is the deity of Christ a crucial part of our worship? 6. If someone asked you, “Why do you believe Jesus was God incarnate?” how would you answer? [Should Christians be able to give a good answer to this?] 7. I Peter 3:15 says we should be “prepared” to give a reason for the hope in us. What are practical ways in which you prepare to answer those who question the deity of Jesus?
