Short Review
Ask one or more to review the main points of the morning message.
Some Questions for Discussion: Focus on: God making us cheerful givers as He is a cheerful giver
1. Do you know the old hymn, “Count your blessings name them one by one…”? Sing it? Recite it?
2. When we think of the “blessings” of God, does that include material blessings? Money?
3. Is money always a blessing? Can you think of circumstances where it is not a blessing?
a. Comment on Matthew 19:23, 24
b. I Timothy 6:9, 10
4. Do the above verses make us uneasy about having money? Does God want us to enjoy our material
blessings? Feel guilty about them?
5. What are some of God’s purposes in giving us money?
6. What motivated David, and his people, to give “willingly” and “with a whole heart?” (I Chron. 29:10)
7. What are some circumstances and attitudes which keep us from giving to the Lord with “cheerfulness?”
(II Cor. 9:7)
8. Think of the idea of God being a cheerful giver: What evidence of that have you experienced? What
does the Word tell us about God’s generosity towards us? Why does it matter to you?
9. How can giving be Cheerful AND Sacrificial at the same time?
a. Consider the story of the boy with the fish and loaves (John 6:1-14)
b. Consider the widow with the two copper coins (Mark 12:42-44)
10. How did you decide what God wants you to do in the matter of giving tithes and offerings? Did you
decide from study of the Word? Testimonies of others? On your own? Did your attitude change at some
point?
11. Pray for the Lord to tell each of us how to honor him in all we do with our money.
