Sermon Notes April 29, 2018 I Kings 16:25-17:6 Short Review Review the main points of the morning message. Some Questions for Discussion: Focus on: Why do people lose their appetite for God’s Word, and how does God, in love, respond? 1. With whom do you find it easy to talk? What is it about him/her that makes it so? a. What makes someone a good listener? List some qualities. b. Tough question: Why are some poor listeners? Why do some people finish other’s sentences, or interrupt, or talk over one another etc. 2. How can we be good listeners to the Word of God? 3. What resonated with you from the Sunday message? Are there thoughts, comments or questions? 4. Summarize: what does the text in I Kings 17:1-3 signify about Baal, about Ahab, about the Word of God? 5. What are some of the things which can silence the glory and power of the voice of God? Use these texts to compare Ahab’s world with ours. a. Read and discuss Romans 1:21-23 b. Read and discuss Mark 4:18,19 6. A drought for 3 years is hard! Does God’s Word bring hard challenges to us sometimes? Examples? Why? 7. God’s Word is rough like sandpaper sometimes. Anyone willing to share examples of how God’s Word has changed your thinking, attitude, or behavior? 8. How can we pray for one another – or loved ones who are far from the Lord – in response to this portion of God’s Word?
