John 15:26,27
Short Review
Review the main points of the morning message.
Focus of Discussion: Why we have to reverence, tremble before, the entire New Testament as the Word of
God.
Some Questions for Discussion:
1. How many have a ‘red-letter’ bible? Is it (would it be) helpful? In what way?
2. Do you know Christians who revere the ‘words of Jesus’ (in the gospels) more than the rest of the N.T.?
Why does this make sense to them?
3. Let’s begin by asking:
a. What resonated with you from the Sunday message?
b. Did you write down any ideas you want to talk about, questions you have? Were there
particular applications to your own life which the Spirit was making?
4. What are some of the teachings of the N.T. letters which would be considered controversial in today’s
culture? What makes them controversial? What makes the discussion about them emotional and heated
often?
5. Did you ever struggle with the authority of the N.T. – particularly Paul – because of these issues? Still
struggling, or how did you resolve it?
6. How do Jesus’ words direct us and help us in our thinking? [John 15:20, 15:26,27, 14:25,26 – with Matthew
28:19f from before, and II Peter 3:15f]
7. How would you explain to a questioner why you believe Paul’s writings are the Word of God?
8. How have the books of the N.T., besides the gospels, encouraged you, directed you in your Christian walk,
given you hope, taught you how to love others, changed your views of marriage, family or parenting? Can
you give some examples of how the Spirit of Christ has spoken to you through the epistles?
9. How can we pray for one another in response to the word today?
