John 1:43-51
Short Review
Review the main points of the morning message.
Focus on: Jesus breaks the chains of prejudice which keep people from trusting Him
Some Questions for Discussion:
1. Let’s begin by asking:
a. Are there topics you’d like us to discuss?
b. Is there something which the Lord spoke to you about this morning?
c. Did you write down any ideas you want to talk about, questions you have
2. Review the pattern: witness produces another witness and so on.
a. What does it mean to be a witness in John 1? What did the witnesses say or do?
b. How can we follow their example?
3. What was Nathanael’s prejudice?
a. Do we have prejudices about the region, country, part of town someone is from, or the accent
they have? Give examples.
b. Have you ever been the object of prejudice from someone? What was your response?
4. What are some of the prejudicial attitudes towards Jesus you have noticed in our culture?
5. How did Jesus deal with Nathanael’s prejudice?
a. Will Jesus always do a miracle? Why or why not?
b. Do miracles sometimes not break prejudice? Examples from your life or lives of friends? (Jn.
11:45-53, e.g.)
c. What are other ways in which Christ breaks the grip of pre-conceived notions about Him? (Share
examples of testimonies – yours, those you have heard; or examples from Scripture.)
6. How, practically, do we issue the invitation to “come and see?” That is, if someone indicated a desire to
know more about Jesus, what advice would you give, where would you point them, what resources would
you make available?
7. How can we pray for one another in response to the word today?
