Psalm 13
Short Review
Review the main points of the morning message.
Focus on: How to respond when the Enemy takes advantage when we feel far from God.
Some Questions for Discussion:
1. Why are there so many Psalms of lament? What, do you think, is the purpose of the Holy Spirit in putting
so many of them in the Bible?
2. “Have you forgotten me forever?” What makes us feel like this? What has brought the Psalmist to this
point?
3. Read and discuss Ephesians 6:10-17 (and 18a) in light of this Psalm.
a. What are the tools and weapons which God provides as protection? How do we use those when
we are feeling far from God?
b. Who is the true enemy? Do people today have trouble believing in a supernatural evil, in the
Devil and demons? Why?
c. Do Christians also have the same trouble? Why? What difference does this truth make to how
we live day to day? Give reasons why you believe in the devil and his dark angels.
4. What are the spiritual dangers of feeling forgotten by God? Why are temptations from the Evil One
particularly powerful at such times? Try to give specific examples from life.
5. What does the Bible teach us about the Devil and his tactics? Can you make a list of some of those things
and discuss them? [Matt. 4:1f – how he misquotes; Mark 4:1-9 – how long do you remember God’s Word?
II Cor. 2:5-11; I Cor. 7:5, II Cor. 11:13f etc.] How have you experienced any of these things?
6. What are we to do when we feel forgotten, abandoned by God, or are tired of waiting? What example do
verses 5,6 give us? How might you apply this in your life?
7. How many in this group feel like verse 1? How can we pray for you today?
8. How can we pray for one another in response to the word today?
