For this reason I bow my knees before the Father,
from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love,
may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
Paul identifies the need to know each dimension of who God is… being rooted in love
Not surprised by the mention of four dimensions
Our Being is much like these four dimensions
Physical
Psychological
Spiritual
External influences
Each of these human domains is impacted by the different dimensions of faith.
So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord,
for we walk by faith, not by sight.
It is because we walk by faith and not by sight we must understand the dimensions of faith.
It is because we walk by faith and not by sight we must understand the dimensions of faith.
Knowledge of Faith
Knowledge of Faith
God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
God is unseeable not Unknowable
Rom 1:19 “For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them.”
God does not Hide from us
God makes who He is well known.
Our knowledge of Faith deals with Both the physical and spiritual aspects of our humanity
We are to walk in faith
what we have heard, what we have read, what we have seen and proofed in our hearts
Not by sight (seems contrary)
walking as if it already was. (Heb 11:1)
It is not enough to know it is an intentional way of living Hab 2:4 live righteously
Physical-Living in Faith; Spiritual- Operating on what we have not seen
When we have surrendered our life to Christ - we were not there but believe it to be true
We allow the Holy Spirit to guide the changes in our life-We see as God sees
Covenantal Faith
Covenantal Faith
For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
Abraham believed in the promises
Heb 11 Tells of the many that believed in the promises
Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses… the list goes on.
We talk about the promises found in our surrender to Christ… deals with our Spirit
Promises the Lord has made us directly
Ground them in scripture
Healing
Provision
Deliverance
Wisdom and Understanding
Ability to Serve Him
Promises made to us deal with Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual
I do not have to rely on myself I can turn to Him and stand on the promises He has made. If He spoke it He will do it. Josh 24:14 Joshua renews and affirms the promises made… He clings tightly to the word spoken by the Lord.
Faith in What Is to Come
Faith in What Is to Come
The External
If you have been a Christian for any length of time you may have come across the various camps; pre-trib, post-trib, preterist, and even semi-preterist
No one knows the day or the hour
Some are waiting on promises not yet fulfilled
Heb 11 tells us there are those who have died waiting… until this moment when we arrived
We must live in the light waiting for the day of illumination
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
There is a time that is coming when all will be made clear
There may be things we do not yet understand
1 Cor 4:5 tells us that what is hidden will be brought to light
We have come to know there are dimensions to our God, being made in His image we too have dimensions.
Our faith itself has dimensions… today may be you are clinging on to just one dimension while the others are struggling… its not that you do not have faith in your salvation maybe its not knowing how to grow in the faith of the promises made…
The process of coming to know the length, the width, the height, and now the depth of our multifaceted God is through the strengthening of our faith in very dimension.
