Ephesians 6:10-19.

We Are in a Spiritual Battle.

I.

When we become Christians, we become soldiers.

There is no discharge in the Lord’s army.

[Ecclesiastes 8, 8 There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.

Ephesians 6, 10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

II.

The Christian has access to headquarters through prayer.

[Ephesians 6, 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. 1 Thessalonians 5, 17 Pray without ceasing.

Romans 8, 26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Ephesians 6, 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.

Proverbs 28, 9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.

Matthew 6, 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

III.

Iniquity.

[Psalm 66, 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.

Romans 3, 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.

Romans 3, 23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

IV.

Unforgiving Heart.

Forgive is a command of God.

An unforgiving spirit is the devil’s playground.

[Mark 11, 25 And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.

Psalm 139, 23 Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts].

V. Be on guard.

We have the whole arsenal of God at our disposal.

[Be vigilant.

1 Peter 5, 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour].
