Welcome Call to Worship

55 StF: Immortal, invisible, God only wise,

Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes, most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light, nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might — thy justice like mountains high soaring above thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.
To all life thou givest, to both great and small; in all life thou livest, the true life of all; we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, and wither and perish; but naught changeth thee.
Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight; all praise we would render: O help us to see 'tis only the splendour of light hideth thee.
Immortal, invisible, God only wise, in light inaccessible hid from our eyes, most blessèd, most glorious, the Ancient of Days, almighty, victorious, thy great name we praise.

PRAYERS OF CONFESSION

416 StF There's a wideness in God's mercy

There's a wideness in God's mercy like the wideness of the sea; there's a kindness in his justice which is more than liberty.
There is plentiful redemption in the blood that has been shed; there is joy for all the members in the sorrows of the Head.
There is grace enough for thousands of new worlds as great as this; there is room for fresh creations in that upper home of bliss.
For the love of God is broader than the measures of the mind; and the heart of the Eternal is most wonderfully kind.
But we make his love too narrow by false limits of our own; and we magnify his strictness with a zeal he will not own.
If our love were but more simple we should take him at his word; and our lives would be illumined by the presence of our Lord.
READING JAMES 1 v 17-27 EVERY GENEROUS GIFT
504 StF May the mind of Christ my Saviour
May the mind of Christ my Saviour live in me from day to day, by his love and power controlling all I do or say.
May the word of God dwell richly in my heart from hour to hour, so that all may see I triumph only through his power.
May the peace of God my Father rule my life in everything, that I may be calm to comfort sick and sorrowing.
May the love of Jesus fill me, as the waters fill the sea; him exalting, self forgetting — this is victory.
May I run the race before me, strong and brave to face the foe, looking only unto Jesus as I onward go.
MARK 7 :v 1-8, 14-15 & 21-23 JESUS TEACHES ABOUT PURITY

SERMON

446 StF I will offer up my life
I will offer up my life in spirit and truth, pouring out the oil of love as my worship to you. In surrender I must give my every part; Lord, receive the sacrifice of a broken heart.
Jesus, what can I give, what can I bring to so faithful a friend, to so loving a King? Saviour, what can be said, what can be sung as a praise of your name for the things you have done? O, my words could not tell, not even in part, of the debt of love that is owed by this thankful heart.
You deserve my every breath for you've paid the great cost; giving up your life to death, even death on a cross. You took all my shame away, there defeated my sin, opened up the gates of heaven, and have beckoned me in.
Jesus, what can I give, what can I bring to so faithful a friend, to so loving a King? Saviour, what can be said, what can be sung as a praise of your name for the things you have done? O, my words could not tell, not even in part, of the debt of love that is owed by this thankful heart.
PRAYERS & THE LORD’S PRAYER
PRAYER OF DEDICATION
418 StF We have a gospel to proclaim,
We have a gospel to proclaim, good news for all throughout the earth; the gospel of a Saviour's name: we sing his glory, tell his worth.
Tell of his birth at Bethlehem — not in a royal house or hall, but in a stable dark and dim, the Word made flesh, a light for all.
Tell of his death at Calvary: hated by those he came to save, in lonely suffering on the cross, for all he loved his life he gave.
Tell of that glorious Easter morn: empty the tomb, for he was free. He broke the power of death and hell that we might share his victory.
Tell of his reign at God's right hand, by all creation glorified. He sends his Spirit on his Church to live for him, the Lamb who died.
Now we rejoice to name him King: Jesus is Lord of all the earth. This gospel-message we proclaim: we sing his glory, tell his worth.
