Me: Ups and Downs of a Man’s legacy. He had his ups and he had his downs. It got me to thinking how does God measure the life of a man’s legacy? How does he determine whether a life was well lived or not?

WE: The last few years we have been faced with mortality on a daily basis. Not a day goes by that we do not have death charts and mortality rates not given to us by the news broadcasts, our friends, and our family. Everyone of us has been touched by end of life situations at this point.
There have been almost 628,000 Americans and there have been 4.42 million that have passed away worldwide.
Any one of us can be a statistic at any moment, not because of the coronavirus, but because tomorrow isn’t promised anyway.
And at the end, I do not want to be weighed in the balance and found wanting. How does God measure the life of a man’s legacy? How does he determine whether a life was well lived or not?
Our passage of scripture today is from the book of genesis.
It’s Genesis 15:1-6.
Genesis 15:1–6 ESV
1 After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision: “Fear not, Abram, I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” 2 But Abram said, “O Lord God, what will you give me, for I continue childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” 3 And Abram said, “Behold, you have given me no offspring, and a member of my household will be my heir.” 4 And behold, the word of the Lord came to him: “This man shall not be your heir; your very own son shall be your heir.” 5 And he brought him outside and said, “Look toward heaven, and number the stars, if you are able to number them.” Then he said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” 6 And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness.
I want to tag this text.
He put what I needed on my books.
I am delighted to share this one:
Scripture Intro---
Promise was Given in Genesis 12
Leave your land you will have Land, Seed, and Blessing.
He’s left his land, he’s and elderly man, he took his elderly wife and family. He’s went tot his place called Canann. He’s fought a few wars. No land, no child, and no blessing.
The Lord comes to him in our text and says.
(Look back at the text)

Faith is taking God at his Word.

God Puts “Right” on the Account of People Who Trust The Good Word About His Son.

Legacy is defined not by the things that you do but by your trust in God.
Romans 4:1–6 ESV
1 What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.” 4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due. 5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
