Vision for a Day

New Day for ResLife
Shifting in the sand, but not with mission! Honing even closer in our mission
Part II: Moses’ Mission: Exodus 3:7-10
Then the Lord said, “I have surely seen the affliction of my people who are in Egypt and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters. I know their sufferings, and I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians and to bring them up out of that land to a good and broad land, a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. And now, behold, the cry of the people of Israel has come to me, and I have also seen the oppression with which the Egyptians oppress them. 10 Come, I will send you to Pharaoh that you may bring my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.”
Mission Impossible Series:
“You mission if you choose to accept it...”
Moses Mission: “Bring my people, the church of Israel, out of Egypt.”
God would do it all for him, but he was going to be the leader
Christ’s Mission
Luke 19:9-10: And Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, since he also is a son of Abraham. 10 For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”
Our Mission:
History of our Vision Statement: Family of God drawn to Jesus, challenged by his message, and released as missionaries...
Upon reviewing our statement: Is it a mission statement?
What are we supposed to be doing?
“We are captivated by the King, so our mission is make disciples who discover the joy of belonging to Jesus with resurrection life.”
Captivated by the King
Before we do anything, let’s put our ‘doing into context’
Our Mission is to Make Disciples
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Discover the joy of belonging to Jesus
Belonging to Jesus:
Q&A 1 Q. What is your only comfort in life and in death?
A. That I am not my own, 1 but belong— body and soul, in life and in death— 2 to my faithful Savior Jesus Christ. 3 He has fully paid for all my sins with his precious blood, 4 and has set me free from the tyranny of the devil. 5 He also watches over me in such a way 6 that not a hair can fall from my head without the will of my Father in heaven: 7 in fact, all things must work together for my salvation. 8 Because I belong to him, Christ, by his Holy Spirit, assures me of eternal life 9 and makes me wholeheartedly willing and ready from now on to live for him.10
with resurrection life: Repentance, eternal, goal and process.
All that we do hangs on the mission to make disciples
Part II: Moses’ Vision : Deuteronomy 32:48-52
Deuteronomy=Second Law
One Long Sermon! Moses Preparing God’s People to Enter in the Promised Land
From the Plains of Moab, but to Mount Abarim
48 That very day the Lord spoke to Moses, 49 “Go up this mountain of the Abarim, Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho, and view the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel for a possession. 50 And die on the mountain which you go up, and be gathered to your people, as Aaron your brother died in Mount Hor and was gathered to his people, 51 because you broke faith with me in the midst of the people of Israel at the waters of Meribah-kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin, and because you did not treat me as holy in the midst of the people of Israel. 52 For you shall see the land before you, but you shall not go there, into the land that I am giving to the people of Israel.”
Moses went through all that work and didn’t even get to walk into the Promised Land. He wasn’t able to enjoy this land of Milk and Honey. He just labored and toiled to get there. He died with a rebellious generation.
BUT, he was at least shown what it could look like. It was a future for others. A future to enjoy!
He was commissioned to bring Israel out of Egypt, but without enjoying the rewards of entering the destination.
Throughout the journey, Moses could only imagine what this land looked like. He could only imagine what was so special about the milk and honey.
For us, we’re sort of at a Plains of Moab stage. We are waiting at Grace Church waiting for what’s next… From now until then, we will be preparing
Go to Apex, the Peak of Good living, and then go die there?
Doesn’t matter who are leader is.
Doesn’t even matter if we’re part of the same church!
Doesn’t even matter if we’re going to be alive!
Mission of the Church continues beyond Resurrection Life Church
The vision moving forward.
Splitting hairs between the Purpose of the Church and Mission of the Church:
Purpose=To glorify him and enjoy him forever.
Glorify and enjoy!
Service is a good thing. It won’t be too cumbersome, and more helping hands the better!
