The Day of Judgement- Matthew 25:31

important to understand that Jesus is still speaking somewhat cryptically here

These ideas are not told as story but as future unlike last weeks parable

The Son of Man- Jesus

all nations in one place, more literally all people, like, all that ever existed

the word separation is important- he separates in the illustration, but in reality their sin separated them from God long before judgement

Eternal Life

inheriting the kingdom

For I was…- all of those who gave of themselves for the better of the others

Inherit the kingdom, the love found in these things is the kingdom

Eternal Punishment

Depart from me

the eternal fire- purification- a common theme throughout scripture- that it would take an eternity to purify such a person

both ask the same question when given the same prompt about their life and what it was pointed toward

Application

this has been by no means exhaustive in any way

There is so much more to be said but I wanted you to see and understand this no matter what

as unclear and vague and dynamic throughout scripture as the afterlife can be, a few things are always clear

There are two options and we have agency as to which we choose

one is discouraging and difficult

one is being where God is

It is up to me to seek to live and share life with the God in others that I might have an eternal life with him
