Come & Sit With The King

Introduction

Honor Brother & Sister Phelps, the church leadership, and all those that labor day in day out for the Kingdom of God
God isn’t done growing in Defuniak Springs…it will take three things to grow within this city:
Unity
Apostolic Teaching
Love
Ps 1:1 “Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.”
Matt 5:1-11 “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him: And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying, Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.”
With the Help of the Lord, I would like to preach - Come & Sit With The King

Movement 1: The Seat

In the times of Ancient Israel, it was very uncommon to come across a seat
Kings, rulers, and rabbis - A position of authority would have the seat
Royalty
When we read of the priest, Zacharias, he encountered the Angel Gabriel when carrying out his priestly duties.
The Scripture identifies that both Zacharias and Elizabeth were blameless before the Lord. The were obedient in all things. Such obedience led to the birth of John the Baptist.
Zacharias’ priestly duties required him to offer incense unto God, which was the specific job he was commissioned to do. There were other jobs fulfilled by other priests; however, the burning of incense was Zacharias’.
I do not believe it was by coincidence that a man who was seem blameless in the eyes of God was chosen to offer up incense unto God.
Holiness comes through simple obedience…God has called us to be obedient
It was during this time that the Angel of the Lord approached Zacharias and uttered the profound words of a son being born to an “old man.”
Too often we see things as dead and tell God’s messengers what God can or cannot do in our lives
If we’re not careful, we can put God in a box during that world shattering situation
We count ourselves out even when God’s promises have been given
Regardless of your situation today, I’ve come here to tell you that God births miracles through dead situations.
He’s a God of restoration when we’re down and out
“For I make all things new”
After the godly priest expressed his doubt to the Angel, notice what Gabriel says in Luke 1:19:
Lk 1:19 “And the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.”
Gabriel’s authority need no more mention then his name, but notice something here. The angel did not sit in a place of power, nor did he sit in a place of authority.
He stated that he “stands in the presence of God.”
The angel did not sit because God was ruler of the earth. He did not have the privilege to sit.
The King did not ask him to sit.

Movement 2: The Sermon on the Mount

Matt 5:1 “And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:”
Notice, that the teaching on the mount didn’t begin when the Disciples felt like it.
It wasn’t a casual conversation, but when JESUS HAD TAKEN HIS SEAT!
There was Impartation in the air!
The rheuma Word of God was about to go forth. The King was seated and prepared to teach on those who are blessed!
Jesus didn’t say blessed are the rich in spirit, but he said blessed are the poor in spirit!
Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted!
John 14:17-18 “Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
Jn 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
Jesus knew that there would be mourning and suffering throughout all humanity past, present, and future. He provided a promise and revitalized meaning as to what being blessed really is!
Being blessed is having his Comforter today!
Being blessed is having a seat at the Table of Christ
Being blessed is knowing Jesus as the early Church recorded in Acts knew Jesus!
Being blessed means being saved according to Acts 2:38
Acts 2:38 KJV 1900
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Movement 4: Contextualization - What Does it Really Mean to Be Blessed

Blessing in the Hebrew was often synonymous with happy, however, this is not the same happy we think of in western society. Today, I consider myself happy if I:
Drive a nice car
Can purchase what I desire
Our society has adopted the mentality that if it feels good, do it. Ultimately, we look for things that feel good or make us feel good.
The reality is that happiness in the OT and happiness in today’s society do not agree!
Blessedness refers more to our standing with God. If we are faithful to him, we are blessed! Times may not always be easy, but God is always faithful to supply. Put your trust in Jesus.
Let us consider how the first Psalm takes place directly after the book of Job. God’s people can be blessed and still endure hard times. In fact James stated:
James 1:2 KJV 1900
My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
God uses the trials of life to perfect the fruits of the Spirit in each and every one of us. We’re Apostolic Pentecostal and believe in the Gifts of the Spirit, but I would have you know that true ministry cannot take place without the fruits of the Spirit operating in conjunction with the fruits.
Your patience will sustain love, if you allow it to grow!
“Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly”
Today if your sitting within the sound of my voice, you are blessed!
You’ve chosen to separate yourself from the the sound of the ungodly!

Conclusion: Sitting With the King

Counsel is typically given through sound. Sound is a prolific and powerful thing…there are two types of Spiritual sounds we should consider listening to today -
The sound of the ungodly
Or the sound of the Holy Ghost
The world has plenty of ungodly voices in it. The church, however, is a group of Holy Ghost believers who have given themselves completely to JESUS
This means they’re sold out to carrying out the Great Commission
They’re submitted to spiritual authority and willing to move their Pastor’s vision for the city forward
Most importantly, a Jesus centered Church is full of people who want to walk in the ways of Christ and continually grow closer to him
Acts 2:2 “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.”
Notice: they were sitting when the presence of Jehovah came to visit them!!!
Gabriel nor Michael were authorized to do such a thing in the presence of God’s Shekinah glory!
The reality is that the people in the upper room tarried and waited on God. They walked toward Jesus and not toward their own mindsets.
It was all about Jesus!
True blessings come when you can sit with the King through being born again! No longer are you a slave to bondage! No longer are you without a comforter, but you have been reunited with God, which is heaven on earth!
Altar Call -
Today, some of you may be struggling with the sounds of ungodly voices - maybe your dealing with people or even demonic oppression.
There’s a far more powerful sound rising up in this place this morning!
I hear the sound of an abundance of wind! God is here right now to break down stronghold within your mind! Within your heart! Within your family! And within your Body!
