A prayer of the prophet Habakkuk. According to Shigionoth.
INTRO—
INTRO—
A faith challenged is a faith assured…even when we still don’t get it all.
Maybe like the father of the demon possessed boy… Mark 9.24 “Immediately the father of the boy cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!””
Today…we see Habakkuk’s response to God’s answer(s) to his prayers/questions.
[A prophet & worship leader!]
A prayer of the prophet Habakkuk. According to Shigionoth.
SOOOOO…what sets the prophet to singing, and what does he sing?
Secure to Share His Heart [Habakkuk 3.2]
Secure to Share His Heart [Habakkuk 3.2]
Habakkuk’s final request…because he trusts the greatness and goodness of God!
Praise him for his powerful acts; praise him for his abundant greatness.
For Us— Challenges to our faith (& faithfulness) should lead us to a place of confidence in and confidence before our Lord.
Secured Remembering His Sovereign [Habakkuk 3.3-7]

God @ Mount Sinai (Exodus 19)
9 The Lord said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear when I speak with you and will always believe you.” Moses reported the people’s words to the Lord, 10 and the Lord told Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. They must wash their clothes
16 On the third day, when morning came, there was thunder and lightning, a thick cloud on the mountain, and a very loud blast from a ram’s horn, so that all the people in the camp shuddered. 17 Then Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain. 18 Mount Sinai was completely enveloped in smoke because the Lord came down on it in fire. Its smoke went up like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain shook violently. 19 As the sound of the ram’s horn grew louder and louder, Moses spoke and God answered him in the thunder.
For Us— Our faith is renewed by remembering, recounting God’s faithfulness.
Secured Waiting on His Sovereign [Habakkuk 3.8-15]
Secured Waiting on His Sovereign [Habakkuk 3.8-15]
God working similarly for his people ‘now’ (Hab’s day).
A warrior mighty to save!!!
The Lord your God is among you, a warrior who saves. He will rejoice over you with gladness. He will be quiet in his love. He will delight in you with singing.”
For Us— Our faith remains secure when we remind ourselves of God’s promises he has yet to fulfill.
Secure and Sustained [Habakkuk 3.16-19]
Secure and Sustained [Habakkuk 3.16-19]
Habakkuk trembles…about it ALL (who God is...what he will do ‘to’ his people; what he will do ‘for’ his people)
In the end, Habakkuk’s testimony matches his confession (through what God revealed about the righteous person):
Look, his ego is inflated; he is without integrity. But the righteous one will live by his faith.
The Lord my Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like those of a deer and enables me to walk on mountain heights! For the choir director: on stringed instruments.
For Us— Our lives will be filled with trembling before God…when we recognize who he is, and ALL that he can (both has and will) do. We carry on assured that He is for us (to be who he made us to be…and to protect us for his glory).
