Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”

Words of a Father

These are the words of a Father to His children
Jn 7:1 Jesus talked of the Christian life with “springs of living water’
This is a sharp contrast to the picture in Jer 2 of a dry and broken cistern
Satan has powerful forces on the “dry and empty” side
He uses a deceptive approach where the fast flow of busy life seems full …but…it is a fast flowing current carrying me away from intimacy with God (Heb 2:2) Drifting takes no energy but definitely moves me.
Rom 8:38 While NOTHING can separate me from the Father’s love, yet fear and distraction can kill the vitality and intimacy of my fellowship with Him. Relationship is fixed in His grace but fellowship is influenced by my focus. A culture of bad news and negativity can drain me and set my attentions on fear and dryness.
Zephaniah 3:12-13 reminds me that I am not alone and that if I trust Him (v12) I will find the ability to do life (v 13) without fear.
Mt 14:27 The disciples alone in the boat in a storm wondered where Jesus was. Jesus gave them a simple answer to their fears. “Take courage!, IT IS I, Don’t be afraid.” In my storms I ask the same question, “Where is He?” His answer is still the same, He is right between me and my fears.
When the devil attacks me with accusations of guilt and shame, “How can He delight in me?” I am led to Zeph 3:17 which describes His view of me in His grace ; “He delights in me! He sings over me!”
IN the midst of many conflicting voices, I need to hear the voice of my Father God who says, “Don’t be afraid, I delight in you!”
