Stepping into Being Victorious

Winning a battle doesn’t mean you are living a life of victory!
Suffering defeat in life doesn’t mean you are not living a life of victory!
We are to BE not just to act, or fake it.
Romans 8:35–37 NIV
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
The art of
“being” More than a conqueror
1 Samuel 17:57–58 NKJV
Then, as David returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, Abner took him and brought him before Saul with the head of the Philistine in his hand. And Saul said to him, “Whose son are you, young man?” So David answered, “I am the son of your servant Jesse the Bethlehemite.”
1 Samuel 18:1–16 NKJV
Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul. Saul took him that day, and would not let him go home to his father’s house anymore. Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt. So David went out wherever Saul sent him, and behaved wisely. And Saul set him over the men of war, and he was accepted in the sight of all the people and also in the sight of Saul’s servants. Now it had happened as they were coming home, when David was returning from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women had come out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with joy, and with musical instruments. So the women sang as they danced, and said: “Saul has slain his thousands, And David his ten thousands.” Then Saul was very angry, and the saying displeased him; and he said, “They have ascribed to David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed only thousands. Now what more can he have but the kingdom?” So Saul eyed David from that day forward. And it happened on the next day that the distressing spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied inside the house. So David played music with his hand, as at other times; but there was a spear in Saul’s hand. And Saul cast the spear, for he said, “I will pin David to the wall!” But David escaped his presence twice. Now Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with him, but had departed from Saul. Therefore Saul removed him from his presence, and made him his captain over a thousand; and he went out and came in before the people. And David behaved wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him. Therefore, when Saul saw that he behaved very wisely, he was afraid of him. But all Israel and Judah loved David, because he went out and came in before them.
Your faith and beliefs will be challenged!
What kind of faith and do we have?
The first thing King Saul did was ask David about his father?
Who is your father?
A Father is someone you listen to and obey! You follow in His footsteps.

Be a Son/Daughter

Psalm 103:13 NLT
The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
1 John 3:1 NKJV
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
We are not alone!
We have a father who is always present and ready and willing to help us through everything in life!
Let’s choose today to open our hearts to listen and to learn from our heavenly father.
Listen/ Obey/ Seek, develop a relationship of a father son.

Walking with God And People

Genesis 3:8 (NKJV)
And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day,...
1 Samuel 18:1 NKJV
Now when he had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit to the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own soul.
Genesis 32:28 NKJV
And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
What does it mean to walk with someone?
We are called to Walk with God and People.
The two are intertwined.
How we walk with people often reflects our relationship with God!
Overcomers Walk, They know how to walk.
Overcomer's walk well with God and people - That is how they do it.
To walk - oceans flow, rivers run, we walk!
This is how we do things.
How do you do what you do?
We don’t usually just do what we do. We follow something, a criteria a standard. What is your standard?
Part 3

How do we walk well with God and people?

Example of Israel once they entered into the promise land.
Joshua 23:8–13 NKJV
but you shall hold fast to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day. For the Lord has driven out from before you great and strong nations; but as for you, no one has been able to stand against you to this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you. Therefore take careful heed to yourselves, that you love the Lord your God. Or else, if indeed you do go back, and cling to the remnant of these nations—these that remain among you—and make marriages with them, and go in to them and they to you, know for certain that the Lord your God will no longer drive out these nations from before you. But they shall be snares and traps to you, and scourges on your sides and thorns in your eyes, until you perish from this good land which the Lord your God has given you.
Overcomer's Walk, They know how to walk.
We Care (everything we do we do in love)
We listen (we want to learn)
We observe (we learn by watching)
We engage ( we learn by getting involved)
We act ( we learn by doing)
Ask yourself these questions?
Who am I caring about?
Who am I listening to?
Who am I observing?
Who am I engaging with
What am I doing?

We Walk with Care

Ephesians 4:2 NKJV
with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love,
Love covers a multitude of sins. We must care! We must be humble and show empathy towards others. This is the Love of God for us.
We love our enemies
We love the ones that hate us
We refuse to allow bitterness into our hearts
If God went so far as to send His own son to suffer and die for every person. Who are we to refuse them love?
There are many who are choosing to live in rebellion. Those we entrust to the Lord!
We are the ones learning to love!

We Listen

Deuteronomy 5:33 NKJV
You shall walk in all the ways which the Lord your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.
Ephesians 4:4 NKJV
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling;
Listen to God’s words of Hope!
God’s words are the ones we should listen to and follow and obey. We are to become one with Him.
Listen For ourselves. Be Careful not to listen for others.
Listening is an act of openness.
Listening is an unselfish act!
We must open our minds, and our hearts to be able to hear what God is saying.
Listen to peoples cry for Hope!
James 1:19 NKJV
So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;
Proverbs 18:2 NKJV
A fool has no delight in understanding, But in expressing his own heart.
Proverbs 2:1–5 NKJV
My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding; Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God.
Galatians 5:16 NKJV
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
We need one another! God created us to need one another. We are all part of the same. One body.
1 John 1:7 NKJV
But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
We are very different, we have different styles, personalities, looks etc… God is a God of diversity.
God Created diversity to teach us to love something other than ourselves.
Listening involves dying to yourself.
Listen to learn the Heart of God
Listen to learn people.
Why are you the way you are? Why are other people the way they are?

We Observe

Ephesians 4:6 NKJV
one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
We Observe God’s work.
We observe God working in people
There is only ONE God! So He is the only one worthy of our time!
People are Precious in the eyes of the ONE True God there for they should be precious to us!
God uses everyone of you! Yes even you!
and yes even him...
What is the Atmosphere of your walk?
Always anxious?
Fearful?
Doubtful?
Suspicious?
Selfish?
Bitter?
Walk involves:

Heart (I am loved)
Purpose ( There is a purpose)
Discovery (I am growing)
Events (things are happening)
Making (things are getting done)

Watch your Walk!

Be a Close Friend

David became close/deep friends with Jonathan.
We must have deep relationships.
Love, Humility, time, engagement.
Care about the people around you!.
Develop a deep relationship with someone ahead of you!

bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
David Conducted himself wisely. Be watchful! Let nothing rob you of your faith!
David never stopped worshiping God, even in anguish he praised God!
Saul feared David because God was with David and because David behaved wisely.
The people loved David because God blessed David and David defeated the Philistines
Saul became jealous and suspicious of David
David wasn’t in a comfortable place! But He was more than an overcomer!
The Foolish will reap the rewards of his folly!
Deep seeded sense of victory!
Like a seed planted deep in the ground safe from predators and deep enough to grow!
The greatest things are not on the surface but in the deep.
Depth requires full abandonment. Surrender. You can’t touch bottom and hold yourself up.
You need to surrender to God
The
Romans 11:33 NKJV
Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
