2 Samuel 3:1 KJV 1900
Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.
David was a flawed man, however he was called a man after God’s own heart because he had the attitude of a servant leader. In other words, he was not after power, fame, or money. David was after God’s heart, passion, and purpose. David trust was in the LORD.

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: But we will remember the name of the Lord our God.

On the hand,the house of Saul ( Saul’s spirit) was after power and control; he was willing lie, manipulate, intimidate, con, and cheat others. Saul trusted in power and selfish pride.

Pride goeth before destruction, And an haughty spirit before a fall.

And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.
Why did the house of David grow stronger?
David stay faithful over the little he had.

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
David used wisdom and strategies not just to coercive power by to gain influence.
He focused on Judah and desired to after power.

Through wisdom is an house builded; And by understanding it is established: And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled With all precious and pleasant riches. A wise man is strong; Yea, a man of knowledge increaseth strength. For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: And in multitude of counsellers there is safety.
God want us to grow stronger in his and favor!
