Some say that you should not only prevent a child from doing the wrong thing and say to them, “stop that.” They say you should follow that up with, “Do this.” To ask them to stop is to leave them free to find some other wrong thing to do. Therefore, we should direct them to the right things. I wonder if they know that wisdom comes from God. Many of His children tend to focus on what He told us not to do and deny themselves without considering what He asks us TO DO that lets us indulge in the good things He has for us. Whenever you read the ‘thou shalt nots’, look also for the ‘thou shalls’. Here’s one to get you started: “Be Holy, for I am Holy.”
