Gods covenant grace 1-8

We know moses was not going to go into the promise land but he is urging the people to obey the Lord. This includes following the teachings Moses had given them, with the clear command to not add to the word or take away from it, and taking possession of the land the Lord had given them.
and he gives them reason to not add to it, because they had seen the work the Lord. We have read a little bit about the conquering of the promise land, but the other books of the law the first 5 books of the bible have more detail about them, and all the great works the Lord did before their eyes. ( the lord is not without witness )
And while some of the people wanted to go back to Egypt some remained faithful, and the Lord preserved them.
And God was giving them the law so they could honor him, and be distinct from the other nations.
The words God was giving them was wisdom, and understanding.
It was a great privilege for the people of God to have wisdom and righteousness from God, and they should be known for that wisdom. Not only did they get to have wisdom, but they get to call upon the name of the Lord.

Remembering what God has done in the past will give hope to people in the future.

( God gave eye witness, the Lord is not without witness )
These reminders help the people to remember to follow him.

Dont worship Idols.

Dont make idols of things that are made by God.
v20. I like what one man said… A fire was used to heat iron sufficiently to be hammered into different shapes or welded to other objects. The iron furnace in this text suggests that Israels time in Egypt was a period of ordeal, testing, and purifying, for the Hebrews, readying them for usefulness as God’s witness nation.
v23-24 are the climax of the passage. God doesn't want you to worship anything, because he is worthy of worship.

Warning for Isreal.

This happens when the ten northern tribes will be exiled to Assyria, and the two southern tribes being deported to Babylon.

There is only one true God.

verse 35… God shows his strength and power to show
v39( know this )
v40 is a response for what he has done… We follow God not for what he can just give, but for what he has done, for the people of Israel it was freedom from Egypt, and a God who listens.

Accidents happen…
