What is the gospel we are preaching?

The church is not a viable place for accomplishing social action, for providing the good gifts of life such as human companionship, brotherhood, person to person vulnerability, and to quote his stated purpose for the mason, to spread light. I have to assume that the light he was offered in church was perhaps dimmer than it could have been.

Light is in fact what the Christian faith has professed to be in possession of, and what it claims to be reflecting from the Father.

John 8:12 LEB

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world! The one who follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

and

Matthew 5:16 LEB

16 In the same way let your light shine before people, so that they can see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

But what IS the light?

Or to put it another way what IS the gospel?
