New Start

It’s that time of year again, when 32 teams of 53 players (plus coaches, trainers, doctors, chiropractors, equipment managers, uniform specialists, maintenance people and so many more) meet in head to head battle to determine the eventual best in the NFL. The best thing about the new season is that last year’s record doesn’t matter anymore, every team gets a clean slate, a fresh start, a chance to win it all.

Just like the beginning of a new season, we too have a chance to get rid of our old selves and start anew. In Zechariah 3:3-4, we see the high priest of Israel, Jeshua, in filthy clothes. And just as Jeshua and Israel were given a new start with clean garments, we too can be fresh from our past mistakes and make a fresh start. Unfortunately, we still have to face the consequences of our prior actions, but we do so with a new attitude and new start!

Now for my “expert” pick (yes, feel free to laugh at any and all picks throughout the season). I will be picking the team to win, not against the spread nor predict the point spread, just the outright winner.
