Psalm 100 ESV
A Psalm for giving thanks. 1 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! 2 Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! 3 Know that the Lord, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! 5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
Four things found in this psalm to be thankful to God for...
First… We can be thankful that...

1. The Lord is God

Psalm 100:3a (ESV)
3 Know that the Lord, he is God!
Be thankful that He is God and you are not. That I am not. That coach is not.
We are limited in understanding.
We Sin.
Be thankful that Satan is not God!
Because God is God and Satan is not we can know that Satan’s plans will fail but God’s will endure!
We can be thankful that The Lord is God...
Second… We can be thankful that…

2. The Lord Created Us

Psalm 100:3b (ESV)
It is he who made us...
Life is such a miracle.
Out of all the possible outcomes of your mother’s pregnancy, you were born!
Out of 7 billion people on this earth, there is only one you!
Out of the millions of ways you could have died already, you are still alive.
Here. Now.
God created you. You are alive!
We can be thankful that The Lord created us
Third… We can be thankful that...

3. The Lord Is Our Good Shepherd

Psalm 100:3c (ESV)
...we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
All of humanity literally belongs to God.
But, some are not sheep.
If you are a Christian, you are one of God’s sheep. Because Jesus, YHWH made flesh, came down to save us, pluck us out of the world, and put us into his pasture...
John 10:11 ESV
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
Shepherds are known for providing for their sheep. Protecting their sheep from harm.
Jesus is the ultimate good shepherd because He was willing to die for His sheep.
Jesus is the shepherd who sought us out, suffered & died so we might have life, resurrected from the dead, and promises to resurrect us to be with Him forever.
What an amazing shepherd.
We can be thankful that the Lord Jesus, God made flesh, is our good shepherd.
Lastly... We can be thankful that...

4. The Lord Will Never Change

Psalm 100:5 ESV
5 For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.
His goodness. His love. His faithfulness.
They are just like he is…
ETERNAL.
With all the crazy things happening right now, it is easy to be tempted to doubt God’s goodness. Or doubt he is still working for our good.
Covid can’t change God
Politics can’t change God
Wars don’t change God
He is still God. He is still working. He still loves humanity. He still forgives sin. He will still resurrect the dead.
He will still be faithful to all he has promised us.
We can be thankful that The Lord will never change.
