When the Shaking Comes

Hebrews 12:25–29 NKJV
See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.

What is going on?

Our world is in upheaval. It is like we are in a worldwide earthquake. Everything is changing. Nothing looks or feels like it did before.
When will it stop? Will we ever get back to “normal”? What is “normal”? Who defines “normal”?

Who is behind the shaking?

God is behind the shaking!
Hebrews 12:26 NKJV
whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.”
God is shaking everything that can be shaken!
He is shaking the nations.
He is shaking our own nation.
He is shaking our government.
He is shaking through political divisions.
He is shaking through social upheaval.
He is shaking through the insanity of “woke-ism”.
He is shaking through the rise of violence and lawlessness.
He is shaking through racial divisions.
He is shaking through natural disasters.
He is shaking the news media.
He is shaking the science world. (biology, gender, sexuality)
He is shaking the business world.
He is shaking the economic system.
He is shaking the medical system. (health)
He is shaking the educational system.
He is shaking the entertainment industries.
He is shaking the sports industries.
He is shaking the pleasure industries.
He is shaking marriages and families.
He is shaking churches and ministries.
He is shaking our comfort and security in this life.

Why is God shaking everything?

Because we have refused to hear and obey His voice.
Hebrews 12:25 NKJV
See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven,
When we refuse to hear and obey His voice, then everything else we build our lives upon is outside of His divine will and order.
God is shaking everything that is built on this world system so that only what is built on His kingdom will stand.
Luke 6:46–49 NKJV
“But why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do the things which I say? Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock. But he who heard and did nothing is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream beat vehemently; and immediately it fell. And the ruin of that house was great.”
What is built upon God’s kingdom will stand when the shaking is over.

What shall we do?

Loosen your grip on this shaking and crumbling world.
Renew your mind to God’s “normal”, the kingdom of God.
Luke 12:31–34 NKJV
But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. “Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms; provide yourselves money bags which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Receive and depend upon God’s grace
God wants us to trust in Him regardless of what is shaking around us.
Joel 3:16 NKJV
The Lord also will roar from Zion, And utter His voice from Jerusalem; The heavens and earth will shake; But the Lord will be a shelter for His people, And the strength of the children of Israel.
Serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
To serve God “acceptably” is to serve Him with pure motives, strict obedience, and unwavering faithfulness.

God is a consuming fire!

Whatever we build apart from Christ will be consumed both in this life and at the judgment.
What are you building your life upon?
Are you building your life upon Jesus Christ and obeying what He has said?
What is He saying to you TODAY?
