What is behind what Jesus says to you?

Beneath the Surface
Play video Jesus forgives Peter.
Luke 22:34–38 NASB95
34 And He said, “I say to you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you have denied three times that you know Me.” 35 And He said to them, “When I sent you out without money belt and bag and sandals, you did not lack anything, did you?” They said, “No, nothing.” 36 And He said to them, “But now, whoever has a money belt is to take it along, likewise also a bag, and whoever has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one. 37 “For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, ‘And He was numbered with transgressors’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.” 38 They said, “Lord, look, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”
Matthew 26:51–56 NASB95
51 And behold, one of those who were with Jesus reached and drew out his sword, and struck the slave of the high priest and cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for all those who take up the sword shall perish by the sword. 53 “Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve legions of angels? 54 “How then will the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?” 55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a robber? Every day I used to sit in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me. 56 “But all this has taken place to fulfill the Scriptures of the prophets.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.
If Peter let himself get stuck on You told me to buy the sword and I listened.
I was right.
I was willing to die for you.
I followed what you said to do.
When Jesus tells us something it may be about what is beneath the surface in your heart that is the purpose of what He told you to do.
It may be that Jesus wants you to find the will of Father’s heart.
We get hung up on the details of what Jesus said to us and what we thought that meant, but the purpose of why Jesus said those things was to transform us.
Romans 12:2 ESV
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
What is behind what Jesus says to you?
Jesus wants to renew your mind, and for you to know Father’s will.
Peter thought he had to prove his worth to Jesus.
Peter was unaware that he did not have what it takes on his own.
Peter was learning that trusting Jesus in him is what matters.
Peter was learning to get behind the will of Father for Jesus and His people.
Peter was so concerned in proving his worth by doing the right thing by Jesus he could not see how that misled his will against Father’s will.
Jesus knew what was in Peter’s heart and will before Peter did.
What is going on behind the surface of what Jesus is leading us into?
He is leading us into coming into agreement with Father’s Will.
Are you stuck on what God told you?
What we need is an honest conversation with Jesus about our heart and motives and where we dont measure up.
Peter and his honest conversation with Jesus. John 21:15-17
You can not have this honest conversation if you are stuck on you were right to follow what Jesus said to you the way you thought you should.
You will miss the point of what Jesus asked you to do in the first place.
Let Go of being right or that it is not just or fair.
Peter thought he was enough with out Jesus.
Peter thought God’s will was for Jesus to not die.
What is beneath the surface of what God told you?
What was your word for the year?
When God is speaking a word to you it is more about what He is trying to discribe than the actual word. God is using english words to describe a specific substance and meaning to you.
My word is Resolve
To have resolve.
To come to clarity on what God is telling me.
To come to clarity on who I am and my purpose.
To remove what is not in my true nature and have resolve in who I really am.
Beneath the surface:
I do not have the resolve I need with out Jesus.
I do not have the clarity or answers to what I thought it would look like or be.
I only thought I needed that clarity on my own. If I have the vision then people can catch this with us?
My resolve comes from Jesus.
My resolve in understanding comes from being connected to the one who has the answers not having the answers myself.
Danie’s word is Autophagy
Autophagy is the body's way of cleaning out damaged cells, in order to regenerate newer, healthier cells, according to Priya Khorana, PhD, in nutrition education from Columbia University. “Auto” means self and “phagy” means eat. So the literal meaning of autophagy is “self-eating.”
What has Jesus been doing with you these past couple years?
It is not important what the word really means.
It is important the work He is doing in your heart, the transforming power of His word.
Jesus does not want to come fill this building.
Jesus does want to come and fill the temple in your heart.
Let Jesus come renew and fill your heart with life.
When God speaks His words life happens.
Closing:
What is Jesus doing beneath the surface of what He has told you?
We get hung up on the details of what Jesus said to us and what we thought that meant, but the purpose of why Jesus said those things was to transform us.
.This weeks activation:
