WHOSE BURDEN ARE YOU CARRYING

Moment of silence for our soldiers !!!

Read Scripture : Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me and I will give you rest—all of you who work so hard beneath a heavy yoke. Wear my yoke—for it fits perfectly—and let me teach you; for I am gentle and humble, and you shall find rest for your souls; for I give you only light burdens.””

Prayer

As we celebrate labor day this week end we have an extra day to relax, spend time with family, catch up on your to do list, or start preparing for the end of summer and the beginning of fall.

Life sometimes for all of us can be hard and heavy burdened as we try to balance Worshiping God, Family, job, ministry work, paying bills, taking care of household chores inside and out and everything else that comes with everyday life!

We loose sleep worrying about getting things done. If you are like me you take your work with you as you are trying to sleep. That leads to you dreaming that you are working all night!! You wake up tired and completely exhausted!!

We tend to carry the world on our shoulders instead of lying it all down at the feet of Jesus.

In these few verses Jesus teaches us a few key points that will help us let the stress and burdens of this world to be lifted off of our backs!

At this time over 2000 years ago the religious leaders had add so many rules and regulations to God’s law that they had made it almost impossible to follow.

They were burden to the point that there was no freedom. The religious leaders had pretty much brain washed the people into a slave mentality.

The world does the same to us today!! Especially if you confess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and live your life in a christian manner.

Jesus says to all that are labored and with heavy burdens to first

Come to Him!! If I have heard it once I have heard it 1000 times , “ I am waiting on God.” People wait and wait and wait while the whole time God is saying, “ Hey I am right here, I am waiting on you to come to me!!!” Jesus has done the work for us it is all in his Word!! We have to receive it and have enough faith that He is able and just to perform what He says in His Word!!

We have to put our faith into action!!! Faith without action is dead!!

All thru the scriptures God tells us to move, then He moves!!

James 4:8 “And when you draw close to God, God will draw close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and let your hearts be filled with God alone to make them pure and true to him.”

Notice we have to move first!! God is an action God. When he sees us putting our faith into action that is when he moves!!

How many times have you told God, “ If You do this. I will do that.” Or you try to make some type of deal with God to have him move on your behalf??

That kind of Faith does not move God!! The Word says, You speak to the mountains, You lay hands on the sick, You go into all the world, You believe in Your heart!!!!

It starts with us coming to Him. He stands at the door and is knocking!! Are you going to open the door and allow Him in??

We need to take all those weights that the world is putting on us and lay them at the feet of Jesus.

When we come to Him, he will give us rest and peace!

2. In verse 29 Jesus says to take His yoke!

A yoke is a instrument made of bent wood that was place around the necks of animals or persons.

If you had a yoke between two oxen and one was pulling and the other was not, the one that is doing the work would become over worked because of the heavy burden put on him because of the action of the other.

The world and the enemy tries to do that to us if we are yoked together with them!! Every time you take a step they pull you back two!!! The more you try the harder it gets!!

Jesus says for us to take that yoke off and put on His Yoke.

Paint this picture in your mind. We are standing right beside Jesus yoked together with Him.

His yoke is easy and light because he has already done the heavy lifting for us!!

That is enough to make you shout!!

When life tries to throw a curve ball at you. Jesus says,” I got you, we are in this together. Just stay focused on me and follow my lead!!

There is no storm, no mountain, no sickness or disease That He will not go thru with us!!

Is not our God bigger than any sickness, any problem or any issue that we may have???

Stop making your problems or issues bigger than our God!!!

3. Part b of verse 29 Jesus tells us to learn from Him. In able to learn from Him we must know Him as Lord and Savior. We can do that by studying His Word!!

John 1:14 says the Word became Flesh!!!

The Word and Jesus are the same. The Word and God are the same you can not separate one from the other!!

The more you know the Word the more you will know of God and Jesus. God and His Word are one!!

So when we learn the Word of God we learn of God!! We can see how He thinks and acts. We can see His fruits!! We can see that He is gentle and Humble in heart.

David wrote in Psalm 23 “Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He lets me rest in the meadow grass and leads me beside the quiet streams. He gives me new strength. He helps me do what honors him the most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way. You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow! Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with you forever in your home.”
