1 Peter Chapter 2 Part 2

1 Peter 2:13–25 (ESV)
Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust. For this is a gracious thing, when, mindful of God, one endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. For what credit is it if, when you sin and are beaten for it, you endure? But if when you do good and suffer for it you endure, this is a gracious thing in the sight of God. For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps. He committed no sin, neither was deceit found in his mouth. When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
Submission to Authority
1 Peter 2:13–17 ESV
Be subject for the Lord’s sake to every human institution, whether it be to the emperor as supreme, or to governors as sent by him to punish those who do evil and to praise those who do good. For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
Right now there is people that agree and disagree with the government and decisions that they made right. I think we all at one point. Now I am not getting political by no means from this pulpit. However, let’s look at what scripture says about this
Romans 13:1–2 ESV
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. Therefore whoever resists the authorities resists what God has appointed, and those who resist will incur judgment.
Live as you are called
1 Corinthians 7:17–24 ESV
Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches. Was anyone at the time of his call already circumcised? Let him not seek to remove the marks of circumcision. Was anyone at the time of his call uncircumcised? Let him not seek circumcision. For neither circumcision counts for anything nor uncircumcision, but keeping the commandments of God. Each one should remain in the condition in which he was called. Were you a bondservant when called? Do not be concerned about it. (But if you can gain your freedom, avail yourself of the opportunity.) For he who was called in the Lord as a bondservant is a freedman of the Lord. Likewise he who was free when called is a bondservant of Christ. You were bought with a price; do not become bondservants of men. So, brothers, in whatever condition each was called, there let him remain with God.
1 Peter 2:18–25 ESV
Be Christ-like
Isaiah 53:7 ESV
He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
There is a time to speak and time to be silent. We are to ask God when those times are for us. Suffering is hard. Suffering is sometimes unbearable. Now here’s what I want you to look at. Most of us work or worked for someone. What happens if you don’t agree with your boss. 1 of 3 things happen. You get fired, you Quit, or you do what is asked of you even though you disagree. So those 3 options. We have talked about before how we need to THINK BEFORE WE SPEAK. OPEN MOUTH INSERT FOOT.
There is different opinions of everything to everyone correct? We can all agree to that. But when we say something whether someone is around or not around, we need to ask this one Question
Is what I’m saying pleasing to GOD?
Is what I’m saying pleasing to God. God says we need to submit to the authority. Authority is the President, Authority is the Governor of Nevada, Authority is the State Health Department, Authority is the County Commissioners, Authority is the Police, Authority is your boss.
All AUTHORITY BELONGS TO HIM (GOD).
GOD FLOODED THE EARTH
GOD DESTROYED SODOM and GOMORRAH
GOD drowned the Egyptians when they were coming after his people.
GOD SENT HIS SON TO DIE FOR OUR SINS
While Christ was on that Cross what happened. Christ say FATHER, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME. Because GOD cant be in the presence of the SIN.
IF you are actively sinning and ok with doing the SIN, dont ask yourself why God isnt blessing your life, ASK yourself Why am I turning my back on GOD.
1 Peter 2:18 ESV
Servants, be subject to your masters with all respect, not only to the good and gentle but also to the unjust.
Subject to can mean "affected by or possibly affected by (something).
Subject to can also mean "likely to do, have, or suffer from (something).
God put them in charge for a reason. We may not like the reasoning behind. But I will tell you right now , I will not be the person that tells God “You were wrong for putting them in charge.”
*Sit down*
I have been asked by a couple people in this church to discuss the masks, to discuss the vaccine. I want to be openly honest with each and every one in here and on Facebook. I will NOT promote one way or another. I will tell you right now, when these church doors are open and you come inside, leave the politics, leave the opinions, and leave the disagreements at the door. First Southern Baptist Church is about one thing. Spreading the Gospel to the community and to the ends of the earth. We are to reach the lost one person at a time. Leave your grumblings at the door. We are all here because we want to worship God. We are brothers and sisters of Christ. That’s it.
