13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.

In Chapter 5 James continued his attack on self-centered merchants who seem to succeed in their business plans and not only turn a profit but are considered rich with there hoarded wealth.

Such wealth James declared waste.

James go on to declare that spiritual access is found in sharing,

not just simply hoarding , possessions.

James recommended patience

Finally to all believers whether you blessed , burdened , or backslidden

James appleased

For 1. praise , and 2. praise and 3. persuasion.

Ephesians 5:19 AV

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Be Patient ( In verse 7)

James 5:7 AV

7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

The Idea is set the temper / timer of one’s temper for a long

run.

Think Long (no short fuse)

Zucc don’t come up over night.

there has to be rain.

In verse 9

James 5:9 AV

9 Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

James call for the believers to stop groaning lest the be judged

why ? because Jesus the Judge is standing at the door!!!

It ‘s verses 13-20

That James makes fitting climax to his letter by placing emphasis

on prayer.

The greatest assistance that you (believer) can do for me is to remain faithful in prayer.

Prayer is clear sign or evidence that you care for me.

Prayer is the hotline to the ONE who can provide for and need no matter how perplex complex or impossible it may seem.

The only way we really go to God in prayer for one another

is we must be sensitive to the needs of your brother.

Let me suggest that maybe the greatest weaknesses the church today may rest in the area of prayer and Praise.

And the reason can be traced to insensitivity.

James used several questions to stress the points.
