God Wants his people to see his power and might
God Wants his people to see his power and might
3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
how many of us wnats to see great and mighty things
what he means by “great and mighty things”?
It means that he will show us his greatness and his might.
We serve the Almighty God.
13 Hear, you who are afar off, what I have done; And you who are near, acknowledge My might.”
Acknoweldge, means to recognise and admit to existence of what is true.
once we see the power and might of God, we acknowledge his power and might.
Those who are near are privilage to see and experience his power and might. Those who are a far can only to hear about his power.
How does God show his power and Might to his people.
How does God show his power and Might to his people.
He will raise up Pharoah
Exodus 9:13–16 (NKJV)
13 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God of the Hebrews: “Let My people go, that they may serve Me,
14 for at this time I will send all My plagues to your very heart, and on your servants and on your people, that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth.
15 Now if I had stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, then you would have been cut off from the earth.
16 But indeed for this purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth.
God raise Pharaoh, the one that threw away the babies of God’s people in the river, and enslaved them and placed taskmasters over them.
The miracles in Egypt, the plagues that demonstrate the power of God to God’s people and still to this day instill faith in the hearts of those who read it, would not have happened if Pharaoh was not in the equation.
Pharoah, represents difficult situations, Pharaoh represents what is impossible, Pharoah represents obstacles that we can not overcome, obstacles that is overwhelming to us.obstacles keeping us from our destiny, from the promise land.
God will raise up things in our life, that is too overwhelming, to difficult for us to overcome by our power or might, so that he could show his power.
God’s will is not for us to be fearfull or in despair, for us to be discouraged or overwhelmed or depressed but it is to see the power of God.
What we tend to do.
Moses tried to deliver the poeple of Israel from slavery from Pharaoh by his own might and strength
After killing the Egyptian, instead of facing Pharoah he fled from him.
God revealed himself to Moses, and to return to Pharoah this time with him.
What is impossible with us, is possible with God, what is difficcult with us becomes easy with the almighty. What we cannot accomplish, the Almighty God can accomplish. What we cannot do, God can do.
God will Sometimes harden your problem, more difficult that it actually is.
21 And the Lord said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do all those wonders before Pharaoh which I have put in your hand. But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go.
God harden Pharoah heart so that God could multiply his signs and wonders and the exceeding stregth of his mighty power.
Sometimes when our problems are stubborn it is for a reason. God has made them stubborn.
4 Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.
God hardens Pharoah’s heart to pursue so that God may be honored.
Persistant problem are sometimes there to show the extent of God’s power. The measure of God’s power.
Once Pharoaoh was gone, God raise up the wilderness.
Deuteronomy 1:19 (NKJV)
19 “So we departed from Horeb, and went through all that great and terrible wilderness which you saw on the way to the mountains of the Amorites, as the Lord our God had commanded us. Then we came to Kadesh Barnea.
the journey to the promise land was not easy, there were impossible obstacles ever step of the way.
the red sea,
the waterless desert
the heat of the day and the cold of the night
there was no food in the desert.
Deuteronomy 8:14–16 (NKJV)
14 when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;
15 who led you through that great and terrible wilderness, in which were fiery serpents and scorpions and thirsty land where there was no water; who brought water for you out of the flinty rock;
16 who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end—
In the wilderness, they saw God feed them with manna from heaven, bring water out of the rock, deliver them from scorpion and serpents.
Deuteronomy 1:31 (NKJV)
31 and in the wilderness where you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a man carries his son, in all the way that you went until you came to this place.’
They saw the Lord carry them, as a man who carries his son.
Abraham as example,
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless. And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said in his heart, “Shall a child be born to a man who is one hundred years old? And shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?”
God sent barrenness to Sarah’s womb and deadness to Abraham’s body so that he could show Abraham that he was the Almighty God.
Joseph as an example,
overnight God by his power made Joseph governor of all Egypt who was just the night before a criminal in a dungeon.
How? only God knows how he did it. We can never wrap our minds around how god does the Impossible.
Our problem
We tend to try to do God’s work for him
We try to calculate how it can happen, how it will be done, how we can overcome this.
Then we realise it is hopeless and then we will be in despair, and depressed.
Matthew 14:15–21 (NKJV)
15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.” (the problem does not need to go away)
16 But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” (the solution is in your midst)
17 And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”
18 He said, “Bring them here to Me.” (Bring you stregnth and might to me and mix it with mine)
19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
The problem dont need to go away,
What we need to do is take our smalle stregth (two fishes and 5 loaves) and bring to the Almighty God and mix it with his stregth and power, then it will be able to not only solve the problem, but even have an abundance of stregth and might left over to solve other problems (hungry people).
Conclusion
How, he is almighty
Let leave our problems and difficulties to the Almighty God,
It has come so that God will show us his power and might.
