Talk about perspective and why priorities come into the picture on who we are and what we emphasize.
Read from Haggai 1:2-8
2 “The Lord of Armies says this: These people say: The time has not come for the house of the Lord to be rebuilt.”
3 The word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai:
4 “Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?”
5 Now, the Lord of Armies says this: “Think carefully about your ways:
6 You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough to be satisfied. You drink but never have enough to be happy. You put on clothes but never have enough to get warm. The wage earner puts his wages into a bag with a hole in it.”
7 The Lord of Armies says this: “Think carefully about your ways.
8 Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house; and I will be pleased with it and be glorified,” says the Lord.
God is at the center of who we are
**Break down God (The resurrection, the Father, emphasize the Holy Spirit).
Community and Life Groups are what we do
We are family. If there is one thing I want you to remember me by, it is emphasizing family as much as Toretto does from Fast and Furious. How many movies are there anyway? Show the picture.
Here is what the Bible paints for us as a family:
Romans 14:19
19 So then, let us pursue what promotes peace and what builds up one another.
this means we value unity, and fight against divisions:
17 Now I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who create divisions and obstacles contrary to the teaching that you learned. Avoid them,
18 because such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words.
In other words, don’t be that guy.. Or gal.. Don’t be the negative one.
And finally:
We Find. Feed. Fight. for our lost brothers and sisters.
Summarize and emphasiz the story of Luke 15:1-7
1 All the tax collectors and sinners were approaching to listen to him.
2 And the Pharisees and scribes were complaining, “This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
3 So he told them this parable:
4 “What man among you, who has a hundred sheep and loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open field and go after the lost one until he finds it?
5 When he has found it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders,
6 and coming home, he calls his friends and neighbors together, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, because I have found my lost sheep!’
7 I tell you, in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous people who don’t need repentance.
