THE LORD'S SUPPER 2021

1 CORINTHIANS 11: 24-26  And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers, and Saints of God I’m so glad that Jesus Christ is the center around the circle around the circumference of Christian Worship. And this is Communion Sunday. And just for your information, Communion is Real 3x. Let me tell you why

1. Communion is Real because in the early Christian Church Communion was and Act of Worship that combined both an inward attitude and an outward symbol of authenticity.

2. Communion represents the Gospel as revealed in the personality of Jesus Christ.

3. Communion represents the beauty of all of us across all jundras being able to participate in the Communion Service without classism or religiosity or economics or social status,or political or race or creed or color or associations and/or affiliations.

So When it’s Communion Sunday, I’m still in awe of the Communion Service, even after 31 years of preaching and 29 years of pastoring, I still have a sense of nervous reverence toward’s God’s Communion. and you ought to as well.

Before I mount this sacred desk or come to that holy table, I know to have myself as decent as righteous, as pious, and as reverent as I possibly can.

Every Sunday we ought to try to come to church righteous especially on communion, because

1 Corinthians 11: 28 says But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

And let me warn us today “Don’t ever approach God’s Communion with a willingly, wayward, wicked heart and mind”.

Brothers and sisters, Communion is Real!!! and it must be an act of worship to you. Worship 3x In the Greek vernacular the word Worship is the word Prokunountas. Pros- kay -net -oo And it means

1. to glorify God in His presence with our voices and with our hearts.

2. Prokunountas means to have an humble disposition of bowing and honoring the One that’s greater than us. God is worthy of our worship.

3. Prokunountas is Worship and Worship is when our spirit man meets the spirit of the true and living God, and true that’s worship..

Communion is worship and worship is labour with action, its adoration with action, and reverence with action and finally prokunountas is honoring God with action.

In other word the old folk use to say There ought to be some sign that you’ve been born again because It’s Communion Sunday Shiloh MBC. Let give God a praise for Communion Sunday. And the Apostle Paul wrote that we ought to be mindful concerning Communion.

And in 2021 we ought to be mindful concerning Communion because during the Corona Virus Pandemic, it’s easy to slip back into a “I don’t care care what they do up there at that church.”it’s easy to slip back into “It’s my thing and I do what I want to do and you can’t tell me nothing.” and it’s easy to slip back into a tunnel vision mentality saying God isn’t watching me and nobody can’t see what I’m doing and besides I’m not hurting anybody. It’s easy to slip back into wrong doing because a storm has been brewing in the Gulf and it has tore up everything in south east Louisiana, so nobody ain’t going to know about my gross immorality even though it communion week at Shiloh MBC.

Do I have a witness? Because the Human Soul has to be engaged, engrossed, and engulfed in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

The text says the same night in which he was betrayed took bread: 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. The bread is symbolic of the body of Jesus Christ. And the broken for you part of the text is the sacrifice that is called the propitiation meaning that Jesus took our place by allowing His Body to be Broken for our sins. Jesus did something for us that we could not do for ourselves.

Then Look at verse 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. The drink in the text is symbolic of the precious blood that Jesus shed on the Cross on a hill called Calvary for the sins of the whole world.The Lord’s Supper is the acted word of God,it symbolizes the communicating of the Living Word of God, and The Lord’s Supper is designed to provoke , invoke, evoke and solicit a positive response from the believer. because verse 26 says For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.

The Lord spoke to me right down in my Spirit man and said Allen tell the church to consider her ways watch what you’re doing, treat each other righteously, straighten up and fly right. Allen tell them to honor and reverence God and to put their personal spiritual houses in order because none of us have as much time as we think. With the Virus these days you could be walking around healthy one day and then one a ventilator the next day, and it’s NOT just old people either. Jesus knew all of this when He and His disciples were in that Upper Room. and what’s so transcendent about this text is that Jesus knew before the foundations of the world that mankind would need a word from God .And so the word says in Ephesians 1: 3-6 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: 4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: 5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, 6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. And in the good pleasure of His will Jesus adopted us. He changed our family and now we belong to the community of Christians. But we need a road map to follow so Jesus Christ became the Word or the Logos. Jesus came down 42 generations in the flesh because Jesus knew that mankind would need a written Word “a Logos”

Then there is what is called a Rhema word. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God. So God in the personality of Jesus Christ instructed the Holy Ghost His other self to divinely inspire man to package us up a manual to inform us on doctrine for commandments, for statues, for testaments, for precepts, for encouragement, for admonition and for faith hope and love.

And so if Jesus did all of that for mankind then we ought to share the Communion meal together in a spirit of Love, and trust, and mutual acceptance of one another. In other word Paul the pastor preacher teacher leader says to the Corinthian Church, “Church! don’t minimize the significance of the great sacrifice that the Lord Supper represents.because the Communion had an awful beginning in the land of Egypt and where it was called the Passover. They ate bitter herbs and unleavened bread.They put the Blood of an unblemished Lamb over the doorpost so the death angel would Passover them and not kill the Children of Israel. And that’s what Jesus did for us because Ephesians 1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; And then many many many years later, the Communion Supper or the Love Feast or the Eucharist, or the Memorial Supper or the Mass or the Last Supper all symbolized the great and terrible agonizing and painful death that Jesus Christ endured to be our Lord and our Savior.

And So we must sanctify our selves so that the very act of eating the bread can be holy and sacred. And then we must be sanctified during the very act of drinking the juice because it represents the blood and the blood of Jesus is what cleanses us from all unrighteousness.

Well I must close but tah this Communion Supper represents the Great Supper of the continuing presence of the crucified buried, and risen Savior. Why ah the bible says that God so love the world that He gave His only Begotten Son that whosoever believe in Him shall not perish but have Everlasting Life. Because One Friday Um um Um they took my Lord and your God and lead HIM ON UP TO CALVARY’S HILL . They nailed His hands and riveted His feet, um um Oh Lord They Put a Crown of thorns on His head and the blood came streaming down. They pierced Him in His side and OH for me He died… yes He did But Early 3x Sunday Morning, He GOT UP. with All Power in His Hands Oh Yes did. Yeah!!! 7th Oh Yeah 2x 8th Oh Lord 3x. Thank You Jesus Hallelujah!!! Glory to your Holy Name. Ain’t He Alright 3x.
