KNOWING CHRIST AND HIS CHARACTER

Father God we bless your Holy name because of your mercy and kindness.
We come today to thank You for giving us Your One and only Son Jesus Christ.
As mankind who was created in Your image we failed in our obedience to remain faithful to you.
When did we fail in our obedience to You Heavenly Father? In my limited ability I pray and ask that Your Holy spirit will help me to help us to understand just when did we fail You as Your children created in Your image.
Lord God we petition You, we call upon You to give us ears to hear Your voice speaking to us and eyes open that we might view the blessing You have for all that believe. Believe that you are the true and living God and that you are inviting us to turn from the cares of this world and honor You.
Scripture teaches us that you Christ Jesus can open our ears and eyes as your Holy Spirit speaks to us.
Isaiah 35:5 “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped;”
Isaiah 43:8-10 “Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears! All the nations gather together, and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true. “You are my witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me.”
The Lord tells us that with ears we can receive instruction to learn of Him. Isaiah 30:21 “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.” “And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher.”
Exodus 15:26 “saying, “If you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do that which is right in his eyes, and give ear to his commandments and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you that I put on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord, your healer.””
Matthew 13:16 ““But your eyes are privileged, for they see. Delighted are your ears, for they are open to hear all these things.”
Desiring to practice obedience to God our Maker, the One whose image we are created, who is our way to eternal salvation, believing in His Son Jesus Christ. The One who can give eternal life, heal us both spiritually and mentally.
We must seek the following:
Proverbs 18:15 “An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge.”
Proverbs 5:1 “My son, be attentive to my wisdom; incline your ear to my understanding,”
Proverbs 2:2 “making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding;”
Then Isaiah 1:10 says “Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah!”
Let us receive the Word of God, Jeremiah 9:20 “Hear, O women, the word of the Lord, and let your ear receive the word of his mouth; teach to your daughters a lament, and each to her neighbor a dirge.”
Lord God help us hear and obey your reproof. Proverbs 15:31
Proverbs 15:31 ESV
The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise.
Proverbs 25:12 “Like a gold ring or an ornament of gold is a wise reprover to a listening ear.”
Lord God in the name of Your only begotten Jesus Christ, let us be obedient to what the Holy Spirit speaks into our lives.
Let us see Jesus!!! Let us hear and receive Him!
Your Holy Word tells us that He’s altogether is lovely. Song 5:16 “His mouth is most sweet, and he is altogether desirable. This is my beloved and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem.”
He’s Holy Luke 1:35 “Gabriel answered, “The Spirit of Holiness will fall upon you and almighty God will spread his shadow of power over you in a cloud of glory! This is why the child born to you will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.”
Luke 1:35 TPT
Gabriel answered, “The Spirit of Holiness will fall upon you and almighty God will spread his shadow of power over you in a cloud of glory! This is why the child born to you will be holy, and he will be called the Son of God.
These words were spoken to Mary about the Son she would bring into the world. She was told first by the angel Gabriel “That the Spirit of Holiness would come upon her, the almighty God would cast His shadow of awesome power over her in a cloud of glory! Then Gabriel says to Mary, this is why the child born to her would be holy, and he will be called the Son of God. Jesus Christ !!!
Mary’s holy child is One who will also be righteous. Isaiah 53:11 says, “Out of the anguish of his soul he shall see and be satisfied; by his knowledge shall the righteous one, my servant, make many to be accounted righteous, and he shall bear their iniquities.”
Mary’s and Joseph Son “Jesus” the Messiah, the righteous One, is being born into the world because to save the lost from their sin. Because the lost cannot become righteous by their own works, but our salvation is given to the believer through the finished work, the Messiah/Jesus Mary and Joseph’s son great work He was sent, that His great work on Calvary's cross.
Matthew 19:16 JKV “And behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life.”
The Son of God, Jesus Christ is identified as “Good Master” by one who was there that day when small children were being carried to Him.
Matthew 19:13–16 TPT
Then they brought little children to Jesus so that he would lay his hands on them, bless them, and pray for them. But the disciples scolded those who brought the children, saying, “Don’t bother him with this now!” Jesus overheard them and said, “I want little children to come to me, so never interfere with them when they want to come, for heaven’s kingdom realm is composed of beloved ones like these! Listen to this truth: No one will enter the kingdom realm of heaven unless he becomes like one of these!” Then he laid his hands on each of them and went on his way. Then a teenager approached Jesus and bowed before him, saying, “Wonderful teacher—is there a good work I have to do to obtain eternal life?”
Matthew 19:17-22 “Jesus answered, “Why would you call me wonderful? God alone is wonderful. And why would you ask what good work you need to do? Keep the commandments and you’ll enter into the life of God.” “Which ones?” he asked. Jesus said, “Don’t murder, don’t commit adultery, don’t steal, don’t lie, honor your father and mother, and love those around you as you love yourself.” “But I’ve always obeyed every one of them without fail,” the young man replied. “What else do I lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you really want to be perfect, go immediately and sell everything you own. Give all your money to the poor and your treasure will be transferred into heaven. Then come back and follow me for the rest of your life.” When the young man heard these words, he walked away angry, for he was extremely wealthy.”
Only the Son of God is “Good” John 10:11-14 utters “I am the Good Shepherd who lays down my life as a sacrifice for the sheep. But the worker who serves only for wages is not a real shepherd. Because he has no heart for the sheep he will run away and abandon them when he sees the wolf coming. And then the wolf mauls the sheep, drags them off, and scatters them. “I alone am the Good Shepherd, and I know those whose hearts are mine, for they recognize me and know me,”
Jesus is our Savior!!! He was born into the world to be our Good Shepherd. He’ll never leave us and He’ll never forsake us…Amen!
He’s Faithful, True, and Just.
the his way, Isaiah 11:5 says, “Righteousness shall be the belt of his waist, and faithfulness the belt of his loins.” We’re talking about the Altogether lovely One, The Holy One, The Righteous One and our Good Shepherd. Mary and Joseph’s son the Messiah the Savior of the world.
He’s True John 1:14 utters, “And so the Living Expression became a man and lived among us! And we gazed upon the splendor of his glory, the glory of the One and Only who came from the Father overflowing with tender mercy and truth!” Thank Father God for sending us the “True One” the Messiah, the One whom the Prophets spoke about. The Messiah sent by God to save us as His people.
He’s the Guiltless One as Isaiah 53:9 “And they made his grave with the wicked and with a rich man in his death, although he had done no violence, and there was no deceit in his mouth.” The KJV says, “And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.”
He’s the sinless One, John 8:46 “Can you name one sin that I’ve committed? Then if I am telling you only the truth, why don’t you believe me?”
2 Corinthians 5 :21 “For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we who did not know righteousness might become the righteousness of God through our union with him.”
The One without sin is too Spotless, Innocent and Harmless.
I Peter 1:19 “but the precious blood of Christ—who like a spotless, unblemished lamb was sacrificed for us.”
Matthew 27:4 “saying, “I have sinned because I have betrayed an innocent man.” They replied, “Why are you bothering us? That’s your problem.””
Judas recognized that he had betrayed the innocent One, but it was too late. He had agreed with the Temple guards to arrest Jesus. To make sure they had the right man, he told them to observe the man he greeted with a kiss.
Matthew 26:47 “At that moment Judas, his once-trusted disciple, appeared, along with a large crowd of men armed with swords and clubs. They had been sent to arrest Jesus by order of the ruling priests and Jewish religious leaders.”
Matthe 26:48 “Now, Judas, the traitor, had arranged to give them a signal that would identify Jesus, for he had told them, “Jesus is the one whom I will kiss. So grab him!””
Jesus was innocent and Harmless...
Hebrews 7:26 “He is the High Priest who perfectly fits our need—holy, without a trace of evil, without the ability to deceive, incapable of sin, and exalted beyond the heavens!”
He resisted temptation for us...
Matthew 4:1-10 “Afterward, the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the lonely wilderness in order to reveal his strength against the accuser by going through the ordeal of testing. And after fasting for forty days, Jesus was extremely weak and famished. Then the tempter came to entice him to provide food by doing a miracle. So he said to Jesus, “How can you possibly be the Son of God and go hungry? Just order these stones to be turned into loaves of bread.” He answered, “The Scriptures say: Bread alone will not satisfy, but true life is found in every word, which constantly goes forth from God’s mouth.” Then the accuser transported Jesus to the holy city of Jerusalem and perched him at the highest point of the temple and said to him, “If you’re really God’s Son, jump, and the angels will catch you. For it is written in the Scriptures: He will command his angels to protect you and they will lift you up so that you won’t even bruise your foot on a rock.” Once again Jesus said to him, “The Scriptures say: Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Jesus resisted Satan, Satan promised Him that he could give Him “all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them, and saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.” Matthew 4:8
Matthew 4:8 TPT
And the third time the accuser lifted Jesus up into a very high mountain range and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and all the splendor that goes with it.
Jesus resisted Satan’s temptation. He was obedient to His Father/God the Father.
Psalm 40:8 “I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.””
John 4:34 “Then Jesus spoke up and said, “My food is to be doing the will of him who sent me and bring it to completion.””
John 15:10 “If you keep my commands, you will live in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands, for I continually live nourished and empowered by his love.”
Because of His obedience to God the Father. Jesus is zealous, Meek and Lowly in heart.
Luke 2:49 “Jesus said to them, “Why would you need to search for me? Didn’t you know that it was necessary for me to be here in my Father’s house, consumed with him?”” “I must be about my Father’s business.
Jesus knew that He was the Messiah. Let’s listen to His zealousness in behavior...
Luke 2:41-49 “Every year Jesus’ parents went to worship at Jerusalem during the Passover festival. When Jesus turned twelve, his parents took him to Jerusalem to observe the Passover, as was their custom. A full day after they began their journey home, Joseph and Mary realized that Jesus was missing. They had assumed he was somewhere in their entourage, but he was nowhere to be found. After a frantic search among relatives and friends, Mary and Joseph returned to Jerusalem to search for him. After being separated from him for three days, they finally found him in the temple, sitting among the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions. All who heard Jesus speak were astounded at his intelligent understanding of all that was being discussed and at his wise answers to their questions. His parents were shocked to find him there, and Mary scolded him, saying, “Son, your father and I have searched for you everywhere! We have been worried sick over not finding you. Why would you do this to us…” “And he said to them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? (KJV)
And He uttered in John 8:29 “I am his messenger and he is always with me, for I only do that which delights his heart.””
He’s a Meek Savior, Isaiah 53:7 “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.”
Zec 9:9 “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
Matthew 11:29 “Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me.”
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find est unto your souls.”(Matthew 11:29 KJV)
Our Savior, The Messiah, Jesus Christ is a meek Savior He’s not harsh, “He’s gentle, humble and easy to please.”
He’s not harsh, He’s Merciful, Patient, and Long-suffering.
Hebrews 2:17 “This is why he had to be a Man and take hold of our humanity in every way. He made us his brothers and sisters and became our merciful and faithful King-Priest before God; as the One who removed our sins to make us one with him.” Thank You our Merciful Savior!!!
He’s also our Patient Savior. Isaiah 53:7 “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.” He demonstrated that He’s Altogether lovely,
Holy, Righteous, Good, Faithful, True, Just, Guiltless, Sinless, Innocent, Harmless, He Resisted Temptation, He’s obedient to God the Father,
Zealous, He’s Meek, Lowly in Heart, Merciful and He’s Patient Matthew 27:14 “But Jesus offered no defense to any of the charges, much to the great astonishment of Pilate.”
As He stood before Pilate as they took Him through a trial, Jesus expressed His patient. And Pilate was “astonished” because Jesus demonstrated in His character His patients toward those who accused Him of a crime He did’t commit. He was and is the Son of God…H e was and is the King of the Jews! They tried Him and sentenced Him “guilty of death” saying that He had “Spoken Blasphemy.”
He had been sent to the High Priest named Caiaphas to be questioned by him. Before appearing before him, Jesus had earlier in the evening had been questioned by Annas who had been the former priest and the Father-in-law of Caiaphas.
Matthew 26:57-66 “Those who arrested Jesus led him away to Caiaphas, the chief priest, and to a meeting where the religious scholars and the supreme Jewish council were already assembled. Now, Peter had followed the mob from a distance all the way to the chief priest’s courtyard. And after entering, he sat with the servants of the chief priest who had gathered there, waiting to see how things would unfold. The chief priests and the entire supreme Jewish council of leaders were doing their best to find false charges that they could bring against Jesus, because they were looking for a reason to put him to death. Many false witnesses came forward, but the evidence could not be corroborated. Finally two men came forward and declared, “This man said, ‘I can destroy God’s temple and build it again in three days!’ ” Then the chief priest stood up and said to Jesus, “Have you nothing to say about these allegations? Is what they’re saying about you true?” But Jesus remained silent before them. So the chief pries…” “And the high Priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God. Jesus saith unto hin, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.
Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy. What think ye.” (Matthew 26:62-66 KJV)
Matthew 27:14 “But Jesus offered no defense to any of the charges, much to the great astonishment of Pilate.”
He was Long-suffering. 1 Timothy 1:16 “Yet I was captured by grace, so that Jesus Christ could display through me the outpouring of his Spirit as a pattern to be seen for all those who would believe in him for eternal life.”
Paul voiced in 1 Timothy 1:16 that he “was captured by grace, so that Jesus christ could display through me the outpouring of his Spirit as a pattern to be seen for all those who would believe in him for eternal life.”
We too can believe in our Long-suffering Savior as Paul did. If we endure journey in this life we too can stand with those who believe by confessing that Jesus is indeed the Son of God and He’s the only One who can offer eternal life.
To gain eternal life for us He has proven that He’s Merciful, Patient and Long-suffering.
And He showed all these in His Character with Compassion. He’s a Compassionate Savior.
Isaiah 40:11 “He will tend his flock like a shepherd; he will gather the lambs in his arms; he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young.”
Luke 19:41 “When Jesus caught sight of the city, he burst into tears with uncontrollable weeping over Jerusalem,” with great compassion.
Why? Did Jesus wept over Jerusalem showing compassion for them. He wept over them because they had not accepted Him as one who could give them eternal salvation. God loves us both Jews and Gentiles, in His compassionate way he stands at the door to the heart of all those that believe. He’s the only way to eternal salvation, eternal life...
Because our Lord and Savior is a compassionate Savior, also Benevolent.
Matthew 4:23-24 states, “Jesus ministered from place to place throughout all of the province of Galilee. He taught in the synagogues, preaching the hope of the kingdom realm and healing every kind of sickness and disease among the people. His fame spread everywhere! Many people who were in pain and suffering with every kind of illness were brought to Jesus for their healing—epileptics, paralytics, and those tormented by demonic powers were all set free. Everyone who was brought to Jesus was healed!”
Acts 10:38 ““Jesus of Nazareth was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit and with great power. He did wonderful things for others and divinely healed all who were under the tyranny of the devil, for God had anointed him.”
He did this because He’s a Loving Savior.
John 13:1 “Jesus knew that the night before Passover would be his last night on earth before leaving this world to return to the Father’s side. All throughout his time with his disciples, Jesus had demonstrated a deep and tender love for them. And now he longed to show them.
John 15:13 “For the greatest love of all is a love that sacrifices all. And this great love is demonstrated when a person sacrifices his life for his friends.”
And this is what our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ will do for us. He did it then and He’ll certainly show His compassion, benevolent, and His love towards us. He’s doing it right now. He’s the One who watched over us all night, He woke us up this morning and started us on our He’s our friend… He’s all Loving...
And because He’s all loving, He’s Self-denying. Matthew 8:20 “Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens, birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no true home in this world.””
2 Corinthians 8:9 “For you have experienced the extravagant grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that although he was infinitely rich, he impoverished himself for our sake, so that by his poverty, we could become rich beyond measure.”
He left His in glory, to sacrifice Himself for our redemption. Therefore, “We, have experience the extravagant grace of the Lord Jesus Chris, that although he was infinitely rich, he impoverished himself for our sake, so that by his poverty, we could become rich beyond measure.”
Jesus Christ, the Messiah, Savior of the world in self-denying Himself Humbled Himself on our behalf.
Luke 22:27 “The leaders who are served are the most important in your eyes, but in the kingdom, it is the servants who lead. Am I not here with you as one who serves you?”
He entered into this world not as One to be served. He Humbled Himself.
Luke 22:27 “The leaders who are served are the most important in your eyes, but in the kingdom, it is the servants who lead. Am I not here with you as one who serves you?”
Philippians 2:8 “He humbled himself and became vulnerable, choosing to be revealed as a man and was obedient. He was a perfect example, even in his death—a criminal’s death by crucifixion!”
Throughout His earthly ministry Jesus ministered as a servant. He demonstrated servanthood.
Matthew 20:32-33 “So Jesus stopped and had them brought to him. He asked them, “What do you want me to do for you?” They said, “Lord, we want to see! Heal us!””
Matthew 20:27-34 “because the greatest honor and authority is reserved for the one with the heart of a servant. For even the Son of Man did not come expecting to be served by everyone, but to serve everyone, and to give his life in exchange for the salvation of many.” As Jesus approached Jericho an immense crowd gathered and followed him. And there were two blind men sitting on the roadside. When they heard that it was Jesus passing by, they shouted, “Son of David, show us mercy, Lord!” Those in the crowd scolded them and told them to be quiet. But the blind men screamed out even louder, “Jesus, Son of David, show us mercy, Lord!” So Jesus stopped and had them brought to him. He asked them, “What do you want me to do for you?” They said, “Lord, we want to see! Heal us!” Jesus was deeply moved with compassion toward them. So he touched their eyes, and instantly they could see! Jesus said to them, “Your faith has healed you.” And all the people praised God because of this miracle. And the two men became his followers.” “They followed him.”
Because He’s Loving and self-denying, He uttered in Luke 22:42 ““Father, if you are willing, take this cup of agony away from me. But no matter what, your will must be mine.””
In that cup Jesus had a clear view and understanding what He came to this earth to do for mankind.
In that cup He saw all our sin, the sin that had been spread from Adam and Eve to us. Jesus saw all those sins in the cup. But yet in still He uttered to His Father, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup of agony away from me. But no matter what, your will must be mine.”
Our Savior who was spoken of by the prophets, born of the virgin Mary, and Joseph being His earthly father.
He was betrayed by one of His own, Judas who was one of the first chosen disciples.
Before going to the cross He shared in the Last Supper with the chosen twelve disciples.
He prayed on the Mount of Olive.
He was then arrested...
He was betrayed by one of His own, Judas who was one of the first chosen disciples.
Another one of His disciples Peter disowned Him. “A Servant girl saw him seated in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.” But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
Then “Peter replied, “And I don’t know what you’re talking about!”
Peter denied Him, just as Jesus had said, although Peter had said, “I”ll never disown You Lord. But Jesus told him “before the rooster crows three time he would deny Him.
And it happened just as Jesus had said, Peter disowned Him, and once this happened, “Peter went away and “wept bitterly.”
Then as the guards began to mocked Him, and beating Him. Blindfolded Him and “demanded that Jesus to “Prophesy as they continue to beat Him.
Once they finished mocking an beating our Savior and Lord all night, at the breaking of the day they took Him before Pilate and Herod.
“Both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, Jesus was led before them. If you are the Messiah, they said, “tell us.”
Then “Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me, and if I asked you would not answer. But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
Then they all asked, “Are you the Son of God?” Then Jesus replied, “You say that I am.”
Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony?”
“We’ve head it from his own lips.”
And the assembly who had accused Jesus of blasphemy took Him to appear before Pilate.
Just as Isaiah had prophesied in Isaiah 52-53 echoed that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ would be disfigured beyond recognition...
He would be despised and rejected by people...
He would not defend Himself before those who rejected Him...
He was led like a lamb to the slaughter...
Then they will raise and lifted Him up on the old rugged cross. Fulfilling His Word, “If I be lifted up I will draw all men unto me.”
There while being lifted up, He carried the pain and suffering for all our sins...
He was punished, stricken and afflicted by His Father God on our behalf.
He’s the Lamb of God...
The Bread of Life...
Light of the World...
The Good Shepherd...
He’s the Way, The truth and Light...
Yet He offered His life as a sacrifice on the cross for our sins...
He was crushed and pierced for the sins of the world… That’s for all people of the world...
He died on the cross as an innocent man...
After suffering all the humiliation on the cross for us, He was buried with those who are wicked and in a rich man’s grave (Joseph of Arimathea)
Will you come today and confess Him as your Lord and Savior. He the only way to eternal life.
Romans 10:9-13 “And what is God’s “living message”? It is the revelation of faith for salvation, which is the message that we preach. For if you publicly declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will experience salvation. The heart that believes in him receives the gift of the righteousness of God—and then the mouth gives thanks to salvation. For the Scriptures encourage us with these words: “Everyone who believes in him will never be disappointed.” So then faith eliminates the distinction between Jew and non-Jew, for he is the same Lord Jehovah for all people. And he has enough treasures to lavish generously upon all who call on him. And it’s true: “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord Yahweh will be rescued and experience new life.””
Will you accept Him today and His Character.”
