Consumed by Servanthood

I know last time I did the lesson on Servanthood I talked about being Servant. we talked about Nehemiah and how he was a servant just willing to be used of God in whatever way he can be. That is great and I do think that we are called to be a servant just as Christ washed the feet of his disciples, so are you to wash the feet of your youth leaders. lol no but we should humbly be willing to serve others. Christ who is the God man was a servant.

so we should be consumed by that and Serve others.

Today I want to go a different way so the title of my lesson tonight is IMAGE IS NOTHING

I. Serve God?

Exodus 20:2–3 KJV 1900

I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

Joshua 24:19–20 KJV 1900

And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins. If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.

God is a jealous God!

II. Serve Self?

Mark 10:20–22 KJV 1900

And he answered and said unto him, Master, all these have I observed from my youth. Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me. And he was sad at that saying, and went away grieved: for he had great possessions.

And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods; For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed: And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God.

When we think I need this latest phone or idem, or I need to this guy or girl or whatever it is for you. I need these things to be happy, what you are doing is serving yourself!

when you serve yourself young people in reach of happiness you will ALWAYS be reaching for that happiness.

III. Who Will you Serve?

Romans 12:2 KJV 1900

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Joshua 24:14–15 KJV 1900

Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in truth! I know I did the text backwards but I wanted to drive home this thought WILL YOU SERVE HIM IN SINCERITY AND IN TRUTH!!

Revelation 3:15–16 KJV 1900

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

So it comes down to the the words of Joshua choose you this day who you will serve! Joshua made up his mind already before hearing from the people. will you serve the Lord without thinking will this person or that. will you serve him in sincerity and in truth.
