Not everyone hears and responds to the call of love and devotion from God

Matthew 22: Jesus shares a parable that says something like this,
Matthew 22:9-14
Matthew 22:9-14
The A list had their invite but their own agenda
Jesus spoke to them again in parables, saying, 2 “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding feast for his son. 3 And he sent his servants to call those who had [previously] been invited to the wedding feast, but they refused to come. The A list had their invite but their own agenda
9 The King then said Go then to the main roads and invite to the wedding feast as many as you find.’ 10 And those servants went out into the roads and gathered all whom they found, both bad and good. So the wedding hall was filled with guests.
We all know there were many different motives for being there. Woohoo! Food, wine, dancing!
11 “But when the king came in to look at the guests, he saw there a man who had no wedding garment. 13 Then the king said to the attendants, ‘Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.”
I see in Matt a man that has had that experience.
It is important to acknowledge that We didn’t do the calling God has done the calling
In John chapter 15 he puts it clearly another way.
You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will be glorified giving you whatever you ask for, in my name.
Our sin is covered by His amazing grace and He helps us to reap through the fruit of all our choices in our sin and a life full of dont’s, as it should be. Then another beautiful thing happens, we are guided by Him to realize the fruit of a life filled the obedience of our do’s
Matt & Alex Testimony
Matt come and bring your beloved wife and share how God has done this so beautifully in your life
The Requirements
The Requirements
Matt has continually been shaped and equipped for the role of leadership
I want you to Listen and see if this doesn’t describe Matthew today
I Timothy 3:1-13
Qualifications Leader in Christs Church
Qualifications Leader in Christs Church
This is a trustworthy saying: “Matt has agreed to be a leader in Christ’s church, he accepts an honorable position.” 2 He is a man whose life is above reproach. He is faithful to his wife. He exercises self-control, lives wisely, and has a good reputation. He enjoys having guests in his home, and he is able to teach well. 3 He is not addicted to drink or is violent. He is gentle, not quarrelsome, and does not love money. 4 He manages his own family well, when having children they will respect and obey him. 5 A man that can manage his own household, can take care of God’s church. 7 Also, people outside the church speak well of him, he will not be disgraced and fall into the devil’s trap of hypocrisy. Does that describe Matt today ?
10 Before a leader is appointed , let them be closely examined. If they pass the test, then let them serve as a leader.
Matthew we have watched God lead you in establishing a character that exemplifies these things not just when things are easy but when there are challenges and difficulties
The Charge of finishing strong in this Call
The Charge of finishing strong in this Call
Colossians 1:28 Christ is always the one we proclaim, admonishing and teaching everyone with all wisdom, so that we may present everyone fully mature in Christ. 29 To this end we strenuously contend with all the energy Christ so powerfully works in us.
I Timothy 4:14-16
This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. 10 This is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe.
11 Command and teach these things. 12 Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. 13 devote yourself to reading Scripture publicly , to preaching and to teaching. 14 Do not neglect your gift, which was given to you through prophecy when the body of elders lay their hands on you.
15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your maturity. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and all those who hear.
Matt I know you are passionate about these things
We know you have displayed the outward character and appearance of a man devoted to the call of God but it is not just a good idea we came up with, another important truth is that God doesn’t just look at things the way we do he examines the heart
Anointing to leadership (David as King)
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him. The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” We know He has affirmed you for this role
Leviticus 8: God gave clear instruction to Moses in the ordaining of Aaron and his sons as priests.
Leviticus 8: God gave clear instruction to Moses in the ordaining of Aaron and his sons as priests.
God said this is what you are to do, so Moses then....
God said this is what you are to do, so Moses then....
Sacrificed the bull, sacrificed a ram and then presented the other ram, the ram for the ordination, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head. 23 Moses slaughtered the ram and took some of its blood and put it on the lobe of Aaron’s right ear, on the thumb of his right hand and on the big toe of his right foot.
To symbolize God’s instruction of ordination we are going to anoint Matt this morning.
Hank will anoint Matt’s right ear (Father may Matt always have the ear to hear you voice clearly. With all the clamor of the the world may he hear you with a sensitivity that cuts through all the distracting voices that would present themselves to influence.
Hank will now anoint Matt’s right thumb ( Father may all the things Matt puts his hand to in your kingdom work glorify you. May his efforts be passionate and consistent. In putting his hand to the plow may he plow to the end of the row and the end of the next. Father you have created him for a specific role, may he be true to that role always.
Hank will now anoint Matt’s right toe ( Father may Matt’s steps always stay in stride with you your direction. in the face of all the challenges that may come may he be courageous in his trust to Follow you. May he turn neither to the right or the left without your commanding it.
God said it and it is our charge,
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
