Strength For Tomorrow

Introduction

We are witnessing today how dangerous it is for young people not to know real history!
ILLUSTRATION: Removing monuments
ILLUSTRATION: Higher education teaching an closed-minded world view regarding past wars (9/11; What
Here and many other places, God used memorials to cause people to reflect. We must see that there is great strength from living with an understanding what God has done for us personally in the past.
You may be like those of the Israelites whom God had provided multitudes of deliverance in the past, but yet face the present as if God is ignorant of what you need, the battle you face, etc.
God instructs the older generation to set aside a portion of the manna in order that the younger generations coming up will know from WHOM it came from.
I would like to center our thoughts on the power of fixing our minds as well as the minds of our children on how all past, present and future comes from the God of holy scriptures.
Let us allow the manna to give us insight on the one from who’s hands it came...........

1) God’s Manna

A. Stories of hoe they murmured and doubted the faith of Moses and God Himself

We received God’s manna when we blamed Him for wanting to kill us with hunger.
We BOLDLY craved the food from Egypt — Num. 11:4-5 “4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? 5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:”
He was simply bringing us away from false assurances to be nurtured by his loving Fatherly hand.
It initially hurts to be pulled away from the only provider you have known.
Don’t misunderstand God’s working in your life.

B. The God of manna is full of mercy and grace (v12)

We simply deserved to starve to death!
In spite of us quickly forgetting His past might provisions!!!
Notice how this manna would continue all the way to the borders of the Promised Land.
The manna continued as well as the DOUBT, MURMURING AND COMPLAINING.
Example: Their feet never swelled for the entire journey / experts say this would cause by improper diet!!!!

2) A Completely Sufficient Manna

A. God’s manna taught us to trust Him for today’s and tomorrow’s needs.

Nobody had too much nor too little.
It never works well when you try to put tomorrow’s provisions in your own hands (vv19-21)
When they KEPT it in OBEDIENCE, in did not rot.
When the KEPT it in DISOBEDIENCE, in stank.
ILLUSTRATION: Have you ever said something similar, “If that had just lasted another day it would have been PERFECT?”
The perfection is not in the provision, but the PROVIDER!

B. God’s manna permits us a time of needed rest

They were instructed to gather double on the sixth day in order to have enough for the Sabbath day.
God’s provides enough so that we would give Him a day of worship and ourselves rest.
We must gather when God provides for the need (vv26-27)
ILLUSTRATION: Some lack today simply due to a lack of WORK ETHIC!
We must do our part so we might Give God His day.

Conclusion

Psa. 34:8 “8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: Blessed is the man that trusteth in him.”
Quote: “Eaten bread must not be forgotten” - Matthew Henry
The bread that has been eaten speak loudly of the one from which it came. It is all about encouraging us and those coming up behind us to TRUST in God at ALL TIMES.
Don’t live tomorrow without thought of the provisions God has given you today!
