Reading of the word
Reading of the word
David and his men reached Ziklag on the third day. Now the Amalekites had raided the Negev and Ziklag. They had attacked Ziklag and burned it,
and had taken captive the women and everyone else in it, both young and old. They killed none of them, but carried them off as they went on their way.
When David and his men reached Ziklag, they found it destroyed by fire and their wives and sons and daughters taken captive.
So David and his men wept aloud until they had no strength left to weep.

Can I suggest to you this morning that sometimes life will deal you a bad hand.
(Yea yea)
There’s going to be sometimes where you feel that you have been knocked off you feet.
It was Tom Hanks how played in the movie “Run Forest” who once said “Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get”
In life you don’t always get the Big & Little joke you may not get an Ace or king but just
because you get a bad hand doesn’t mean everything is over you can depend on you partner.
Okay y’all looking at me funny this morning, but for the few that have not been save, sanctified, Kentucky-fried and dripped in hot grease all your life that can be a witness that can testify:
that life has thrown some obstacles your way.
life has thrown some heartache your way.
When it seems like you starting to get somewhere you get set right back.
Maybe you lost a love one.
Or you receive unexpected new from the doctor.
You in school and things are not working out the way you expected.
It seem like every time you take one step forward you go to take 3 steps back. Life has dealt you a bad hand.
If you not ashamed I dear you to stand to your feet if you know that the only thing you could do was to depend on is your partner, and y’all my partner is Jesus. Do me a favor and point to somebody and tell them It’s not over.

Encourage yourself
1 Samuel 30:6 (NIV)
David was greatly distressed because the men were talking of stoning him; each one was bitter in spirit because of his sons and daughters. (But David) found strength in the Lord his God.
My God, see y’all should have been:
leap, jump, praising, rejoice off that text there.
See anytime you see a but in the text it bring about a shift. And God told me to tell you this morning that he’s about to start shifting some things in your favor, he’s about to start working some things out for you, but you have to Encourage yourself.
The text say:
But David found strength in the Lord his God.
I like what the KJV version say. He encouraged himself in Lord his God
He use the word of god to encourage himself and that what I am here to tell you this morning that you have the use the word of God to encourage yourself.
Instead of beating yourself up over how bad the situation maybe or what you don’t have
Instead of reminding yourself of your pass sometimes you have to remind yourself about the God that you server. ENCOURAGE yourself.
Tell the story about the riddle mama taught you you can do put a little power to it.
See some of y’all are still in the valley because you don’t believe you can and you waiting on someone else to Encourage you, but you have to Encourage yourself.
Stop waiting for someone to pat you on the back
Stop waiting on people to join your cheerleading squad
You be your own cheerleader squad and say this is the day that the lord has made and he’s going to give you everything you need to make it through this day.
You have to tell yourself that you can do it when you do feel that you can
You have to tell yourself that you can do it seem impossible.
You have to tell yourself that you can do it when others don’t believe in you.
You have to tell yourself that you can do it when you at your lowest point.
Do me a favor, I know covid is really but virtually high five someone and tell them to Encourage yourself.
I’ve got to get up
I’ve got to move on
I’ve got forward
Back to the text Quickly summary verses 1-6 Davids army 600 men
They wanted to kill him
It’ bad when the very people that you helped out is ready to kill you.
stab you in the back
they talk about you behind your back, running your name in the dirty
They curse you
they want help me
But you got to be like David, look around your surroundings.
Everything may not be what you hope it to be
But you have to encourage yourself.
And David inquired at the Lord, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.
Preacher what do you have to do to recover?
You have to praise god.
You do know that praising him is important right?
I know y’all tried of me so what why don’t I give you these 6 points and we get out of here.
Praise facilitates access to God.
Praise is where God lives. Wait a minute, isn’t God omnipresent – everywhere, all the time? Absolutely! Yet His presence is especially intense in an atmosphere of praise.
Praise promotes productivity. According to the Word, the Earth yields its produce in the presence of praise
Praise chases away despair. There’s no better way to beat the blues than to change our focus from self to God.
Praise is an effective weapon against the devil. He has hated praise ever since because of its reminder of what he gave up and can’t regain.
God is worthy of it. As the Psalmist says, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”

Do me a favor look at your neighbor tell your neighbor sometimes you got to encourage yourself
Life may have dealt you a bad hand, but its not over.
Its not the end.
I’m going to win.
The devil may have knocked you down but he didn’t knock you out.
Know look at your neighbor and say neighbor. (NO you got to stay it like this)
Neighbor I going to recover
Recover it all
Because if God is before for me who can stand against me
I can do all things through christ who give me strength
If you not to mean this morning
Find one more neighbor
Tell them, Encourage yourself
I like what verse 18 tell me.
It say that David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken
And I want to let you know this morning
You are going to recovery
Im going to recover my joy back
Im going to recover my peace back
Im going to recover from my heartaches
My bad new is going to be good news
Im going to get my finance, back in order
Im going to recover
Everything
Just put your bad hand in the master’s hand
Now give God some praise
Praise him
