Courageous leadership requires faith that comes from knowing God, believing His promise, and trusting His Power.
Start reading at Numbers 13:1, then go to verse 17, The command to be strong!
What made the difference between courage and fear? You must:
Know Your God
Know Your God
Joshua had seen God’s power enable them to win battles before, but it was the personal understanding of God’s nature that emboldened his faith!
Joshua would stay at the “Tent of Meeting” outside the camp. He learned to hear God’s voice as he watched Moses interact with God.
11 Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.
Faith is built upon the knowledge of God’s character and the confidence of His promises.
32 He shall seduce with flattery those who violate the covenant, but the people who know their God shall stand firm and take action.
What do you know of the Lord’s character? We live in a day when truth is being distorted constantly. You must know the Truth of Who God is in order to stand courageously.
Believe God’s Promise
Believe God’s Promise
They all saw God’s promise fulfilled. - It was indeed a land flowing with milk and honey. Num. 13:27 “27 And they told him, “We came to the land to which you sent us. It flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit.”
Only Joshua and Caleb believed that since God had told them the truth about the land, He was able to give them the land just as He promised.
17 and I promise that I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egypt to the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, a land flowing with milk and honey.” ’
It is not enough just to know about God, you must believe God!
Faith overcomes fear when we trust the promise of God.
There are some that have heard all their lives ABOUT God, the have heard ABOUT salvation through the LORD JESUS CHRIST, but have never taken the step of placing their TRUST in His PROMISE. Fear has kept them from stepping forward in faith.
Trust God’s Power
Trust God’s Power
10 of the spies led the people to focus on the size of their problem!
God’s Kingdom does not run by democracy. It is ruled by HIS authority and secured by HIS ability. You accept God’s plan by faith.
Caleb and Joshua looked at the power of God!
They are bread for us! He will bring us into the land! Their protection is removed!
Strength and courage comes from Knowing Your God, Believing His Promise, and Trusting His Power.
