What is salvation? (3-5)

Being born again (3)
2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB95
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.
Because we are born again (a new creation), we have a living and eternal hope in Jesus
We receive an inheritance (4)
It is pure, imperishable, and undefiled
That inheritance is that we are adopted by God and heaven place in heaven prepared for us.
John 14:2–3 NASB95
“In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. “If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
We are protected until our salvation is complete (5)
God is intimately involved in taking care of us, and continually providing for and encouraging us.
Transition
Why would we need protection

Living out our salvation in the real world. (6-9)

You’re going to experience trials/difficult times (6)
James 1:2–4 NASB95
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
Things aren’t always going to be easy because you are a Christian, it certainly wasn’t that way for the disciples.
However, these trials will grow your faith (7)
Gold is pretty durable. It melts at 2,000* Fahrenheit, but it can still be dented, rusted, or dissolved.
Your faith is supposed to be stronger than that.
Everything that happens to us is supposed to make us praise God all the more because of how great His love for us is.
We hold on to a faith without sight. (8-9)
We don’t get to see Jesus physically, but we’re still called to love Him
This is not to say that we have no evidence of Him, but He isn’t just walking around.
But, the faith that we have that He died for us is salvific, He saved us.
Conclusion:
While things might not be easy right now, and you are definitely not guaranteed to have everything go right because you are a Christian, that doesn’t hold a candle to the sacrifice that God gave for you, or the reward that He gives to you.
