******************************************************** My soul makes its boast in the LORD, Let the humble hear it and be glad! Oh, magnify the LORD with me, And let us exalt His name together! ******************************************************** THE PRELUDE..................................................Variations on the Hymns THE GREETING OF THE CONGREGATION............2 Corinthians 1:2-3 *THE CALL TO WORSHIP.......................................From Psalm 67:1-3 Leader: May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, All: That your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Leader: Let the peoples praise you, O God; All: Let all the peoples praise you! *THE INVOCATION & THE LORD'S PRAYER Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. *THE HYMN OF PRAISE........O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing (Hymn #164) PRIVATE & CORPORATE CONFESSION OF SIN...........from James 1:27 O holy God and good Father, we have heard You say that religion which is pure and undefiled before You is to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world. And, yet we often fail in both of these aspects of obedience. We are often too self-absorbed to allow Your blessings to flow through us to the weak and vulnerable around us whom You put in our path. We are often focused more on our pleasure and entertainment than Your glory and willingly become stained by the world's false-substitutes for You. We ask for forgiveness, conviction, increased wisdom and strength to follow and honor You. For, You have redeemed us by the blood of Christ, and You are worthy of the giving of our lives as a living sacrifice. We ask in Christ's name. Amen. ASSURANCE OF PARDON............................................Psalm 32:1-5 Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord." And you forgave the guilt of my sin. *THE PSALM OF WORSHIP........................I Will Wait For You (Psalm 130) *THE TEACHING OF FAITH..........................The WSC Questions 76-78 Q76: Which is the ninth commandment? THE PASTORAL PRAYER THE HYMN OF PREPARATION....................................Abide With Me & THE GIVING OF TITHES AND OFFERINGS...................The Doxology THE SERMON.......................................................Rev Jonathan Rowe Church Officers - Shepherds & Servants - Part 2 *THE HYMN OF RESPONSE...............I Love Thy Kingdom Lord (Hymn #353) **THE LORD'S SUPPER THE WORDS OF INSTITUTION...........................1 Corinthians 11:23-32 THE INVITATION TO THE TABLE *THE CONFESSION OF FAITH..................................The Apostles' Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord, Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate, Was crucified, dead, and buried: He descended into hell; The third day he rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. THE PRAYER OF CONSECRATION THE SERVING OF THE BREAD THE SERVING OF THE CUP CLOSING HYMN...........................................What A Day That Will Be *THE BENEDICTION THE POSTLUDE.................................................Variations on the Hymns *All Are Standing **The sacrament of the Lord's Supper at Covenant Church is for all those who, by faith, have received Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, do now repent of sin, endeavor to live a holy life in gratitude to Christ, and have publicly professed their faith through baptism and membership (or are pursuing membership) in a Gospel-proclaiming Church. Children who have not publicly confessed Christ and been admitted to Church membership should refrain from the sacrament and learn by reverent observation, even though they may have already received Christ privately in their heart. Those without personal saving faith in Jesus Christ are to refrain from the sacrament and are urged now to receive Him by repentance and faith. This admonition is given in love as a Biblical warning that "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself."
