Paul’s response to suffering and disappointment
1. Romans 8:35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?
2. Romans 8:36 As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
a. Psalm 44:22 Yet for your sake we are killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.

ii. Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth; like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent, so he opened not his mouth.
b. Psalm 44:26 Rise up; come to our help! Redeem us for the sake of your steadfast love!
3. Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
4. Romans 8:38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
5. Romans 8:39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
