Never Left Alone

John 14:12-20
John 14:12–20 NASB95
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father. “Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. “If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it. “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments. “I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not see Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you. “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. “After a little while the world will no longer see Me, but you will see Me; because I live, you will live also. “In that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.
Very significant passage - It is like listen to me and you will win - the word works means activities it actualy means energy- put the two together and you have activities that we put our energy into.
“He who believes in me”, blows the Apostles only idea of miracles. It is speaking to all of us. Also it is not asking how much faith you have it just says all who believe in me.
**The job of reaching this world is ongoing.
What Jesus did we see being played out everyday in the kingdom. People are being healed, Fed, touched, ministered to, baptised etc today and it will continue untill Jesus comes back. This is our mandate to keep the faith and work the works untill the Master comes back. Those who do not believe in Miracles say this passage only means the advancement of converts. We know that is only a part of it .
Nothing is insignificant. Everything for Jesus has value. God answers prayer in Jesus name because it is the advancement of the kingdom. Prayer is effective.
But you cannot do it alone. Man in of himself is selfish and prideful . The Spirit is not
Philippians 2:13 NASB95
for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure.
Jesus Explains that He is the Truth - But there is also the Spirit of Truth
There is little chance of you making it unless the Spirit is in you.
In the OT the Spirit came upon people - They were equipped for a task or a word or a prophesy
Sometimes like in the case of Samson the Spirit gave him strength beyond the natural.
Anointed people led non-anointed people.
This was all about to change.
Romans 8:9 says If you don’t have the Spirit you are not one of His - So He comes to indwell you not the world. The world doesn’t know the Spirit at all. The Spirit controls you ( as much as you will let Him) from within.

How Do You Know the Holy Spirit is In You?

John 14:21–24 NASB95
“He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.” Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, what then has happened that You are going to disclose Yourself to us and not to the world?” Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him. “He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine, but the Father’s who sent Me.
Obedience
You begin to obey the Spirits promptings - You recognize you have a battle within. Paul says
The H.S teaches you - He imparts knowledge and gives you moral instruction and
Reminds you - brings to your attention
Love
Word is used over 56 times in the Gospel of John
Love brings about a spiritual manifestation
It is a willing forfeiture of your life for the good of another
Another point of this passage is God wants to abide with you. He wants to talk to you. Genesis 18:1-5 1-5 gives us a picture of this when Abraham was visited.
Genesis 18:1–5 NASB95
Now the Lord appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre, while he was sitting at the tent door in the heat of the day. When he lifted up his eyes and looked, behold, three men were standing opposite him; and when he saw them, he ran from the tent door to meet them and bowed himself to the earth, and said, “My Lord, if now I have found favor in Your sight, please do not pass Your servant by. “Please let a little water be brought and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree; and I will bring a piece of bread, that you may refresh yourselves; after that you may go on, since you have visited your servant.” And they said, “So do, as you have said.”

How does the World Give?

God gives Peace in the midst of trouble - which is the absence of spiritual unrest and full assurance of Gods presence as a result of your faith in Jesus.
Jesus said He gives His peace - The world does not give the peace of Jesus. In fact there is little peace in the world. The definition of world peace is the lull between battles. It is just the calm before the storm. It is the moment the eye of the storm is over you but you know in a matter of minutes the backside of the storm is violently coming your way.
The World just gives you trouble - there is no inner assurance in the world. When Gods peace enters your heart despair and anxiety are driven out.
This Peace is the word Shalom - which also represents wholeness

Rise Let US And Go From Here

Satan has no claim on Jesus
Satan has no claim on you - You have been bought with a price.
Jesus wants you to know you are not alone - You are free - You are not

Move From Living Like He Is With You To Living Like He Is In You

There is a difference - When the Disciples were walking with Jesus it was as if they were just tagging along. That is why in the garden of Gethsemane they fled. When terror comes they run and leave the consequences up to Jesus.
What happened after the day of Pentecost.
They were willing to die for Jesus.
They were bold and courageous.
They understood the authority of the God that lived inside of them. It was more than watching Jesus do all the work it was Jesus doing the work through them. It was still Gods work but they had a part in it.
