Alien Invasion

Our main sermon scripture for today is:

Philippians 3:20-21 “But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”

If you are a born-again believer, you are no longer a citizen of this world!! Once you are born-again you give up your earthly citizenship status, you have been born into the Kingdom of God. You are an ALIEN!!!!

Definition- (From web dictionary) “A foreigner- especially one who is not a naturalized citizen of the country where they are living. “An illegal alien”.”

As a boy, I was intrigued when I heard stories about aliens and UFO’s and in high school we were required to read HG Wells “War of the Worlds”. The story was performed and broadcast live on October 30, 1938 on live radio. And it freaked alot of people out, it is told that some folks committed suicide because they thought it was really happening.

But, this is not the kind of “alien” that I’m talking about. I’m not talking about the illegal kind that enters a country either.

I am talking about someone who was born into this world legally, born like everyone else, into sin. And be cause we are all born into sin, we are accepted by the sinful world that we live in.

Question: Can you even imagine being accepted into another country without knowing the language, having a place to live, or having a job and having to survive? Can you imagine how terrifying that would be? And how strange everything like customs, food, culture, etc would be because you aren’t familiar with them.

When you are born again, it may take you a while but this world is supposed to be strange for us.

Romans 12:1–2 nasb

1 Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may dprove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

17 Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.

24 and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

2 Peter 1:4 New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (Chapter 1)

4 For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.

What are these scriptures saying? Are they saying that we should hate everything in this world? I don’t think so. I think what it shows is that the sin and carnality of this world should make us have a heartfelt concern for those who are still living in this world who do not have a relationship with our Savior!

We shouldn’t love the things of this world more than we love God, and if we do therein lies a problem:

1 John 2:15-17

1 John 2:15–17 ESV

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.

Colossians 3:2

Colossians 3:2 ESV

Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

Another feeling that we may have as a Believer in this world is one of fear, lets face it the world has been moved by whatever means into fear. Do this or don’t do that or you may or may not live.

Conspiracy theorists abound, and even if the conspiracies are true, the Bible instructs us not to fear!!!

2 Timothy 1:7 (ESV)

for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Some versions say a sound mind. Fear produces opposite of a sound mind!!!

\Isaiah 41:10 “fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Matthew 10:28 “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.”

When we know that we have a heavenly home, what do we have to fear on this earth?

As aliens, the bible says that we will be hated!!!!

John 15:18-25 ““If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours. But all these things they will do to you on account of my name, because they do not know him who sent me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have been guilty of sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates me hates my Father also. If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin, but now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. But the word that is written in their Law must be fulfilled: ‘They hated me without a cause.’”

Mark 13:13 “And you will be hated by all for my name’s sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”

How do we overcome?:

Revelations 12:11  And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death

2: Do your part in the Great commission. Do you know if you are a born again believer that you are a minister of the gospel?

3. Do NOT compromise your beliefs for this world or anyone or anything in it!!!!!
