The power of example.
Sunday 19 Oct leaders camp
The powerful thing about leadership is that people will become like we are
God has designed it that the leaders need to be ‘on show’, an example for all to see
The question is: What do we want the church to look like?
The people to be?
.........
Then we need to set the example for them- show them
Healthy leaders means a healthy church
Principle is that like produces like.
See in Genesis 1:12
My children take on the characteristics of their parents- good and bad
Discipleship is most powerful when it is caught and taught
The way we live will most impact people
The aim is to model Jesus to people:
They need to see something of a grade Christianity- story of pool player who thought he was really good then played against an a grade player- realized he was c grade
No C grade in our salvation- we are all equal before God
But in the working out of our salvation
‘God is looking for people who believe the gospel so much that they order their lives around it’
They see us laying our lives down, picking up our crosses to follow Jesus
Husbands, loving your wives
Wives, honouring and submitting to your husbands
We are to set the example in this area
Growth- be an example of growing in grace and knowledge of Jesus
We see Paul’s life in this regard:
1 Cor 11:1, 10:31-
Phil 3:15-17
2 Thess 3:6-9
But you say, that was Paul.
He was a great apostle and man of faith- it was right that they imitate him but we aren’t in that league.
