Torill
Torill has been an ever present constant in my life. Ever since we were little we always had a close relationship. I was her big brother and she was my “little sister.”
Throughout our lives we knew that we were always there for each other. We never questioned the brotherly and sisterly love between us.
Our childhood wasn’t always easy. Especially with moving to America from Norway, and being separated from our mother, our brother, Morten, and sister, Gry. Those three people were always missing from our lives, which wasn’t always easy.
But, we had a Dad that did his absolute best to give us everything we needed. He made a lot of sacrifices for us, in so many different ways. And, it is because of the love he raised us with that became the adults that we are.
Torill’s hope in her struggle with glioblastoma, like it was for all us, was for a miracle. But she also knew that Jesus made a promise of a place with no more tears, no more sorrow, and no more pain.
A place of eternal life, together with our loved ones, which gave her hope. Knowing, that if the miracle didn’t come she would still be healed one day.
She also knew that even though she would be going on to heaven before us, we will all be together again one day, because Jesus provided a way for that to take place.
Because of Jesus’ promise of eternal life, we can know that there is a place beyond this world, where we will live in joy, peace, and love together, forever.
This was made possible because of God’s love and goodness. He wants the best of all things for his children.
While we were crying with and for Torill, He was crying with us right there beside us.
Death is an evil thing. Death, pain, and grief was not part of God’s original creation. So, Jesus came to overcome death and the grave. Which He did though the cross and His resurrection.
God’s Word tells us that, “God…abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel which He manifested through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus.” 2 Timothy 1:10
One of the things that I love about my sister is how genuine, caring, loving, beautiful, and exceptional she is. Truly one of most incredible human beings God ever created.
Her love and devotion to her family and friends, especially John, Ian, Sean, and Shanna was inspiring.
She raised three amazing kids, who have grown into strong, caring adults. Who, because of her, are able to forge ahead in their own lives, with their own families, even after losing her. Let your Mom be an inspiration to you as you forge ahead.
Patrick and Andrew loved their Aunt Torill and I am sure she will always have a place in their hearts, just as she will for Beth and me.
John, in the time that I spent with you and Torill over these last several weeks, I could truly see how devoted you were to each other. Your care of and dedication to her during this time was incredible. I am thankful to everyone who had a hand in caring for her these past weeks.
None of our lives will be the same without her here, but we know that she will always be with us in our hearts and minds, and we will celebrate and tell people about her whenever we have the chance.
Torill, I will miss you terribly, as will everyone here. But, we know that you are no longer in pain.
You are now dancing on the Streets of Gold in heaven with Daddy, and we will see you again one day.
I love you so much!
